Any such list that omits Starship Exeter's "The Treasaurian Intersection" is, honestly, woefully incomplete.

I mean, give me a f***ing break. I can name at least half a dozen other fan films that deserve to be on the list more than that fanwank Of Gods and Men.

Among them:

Star Trek: Intrepid's "Transposition"
Star Trek: Horizon
Star Trek Valiant
's pilot
Starship Farragut's "For Want of a Nail"
Starship Farragut's "The Price of Anything"
Star Trek Continues' "Lolani"

Of Gods And Men is a poorly written everything-and-the-kitchen-sink, nonsensical mess.

I'm surprised Horizon missed out but I sense the article wanted to focus on TOS related stuff that resonates with the Big Fifty Thing going on right now rather than get bogged down with having to explain to it's readers familiar with Kirk and Spock about the era of Archer and T'pol.

I'm really OK with this list, as it enlists the major fan film production teams which have gained the most publicitiy inside and outside the fan film community. Within this list, I agree 80%. "Mind-Sifter" would have been replaced by "Lolani" AFAIC.

As for what Karzak stated: Yes, "The Tressaurian Incident" will be my favourite fan films of all times, as of yet. Followed closely be "World Enough and Time".

World enough and Time? Sure
Mind Sifter and To Serve all My Days from NV? They're good but some productions from other groups are better, namely Exeter's Tressaurian intersection and Valiant's Legacy, to name just two
Fairest of them All? Please no, Lolani is better.
Of Gods and Men is in the top 5 for most ambitious, but it falls apart in the plotting.
Farragut's For Want of A Nail, despite some wonky acting here and there, is solid enough to be in this list.

Looking forward to next year to see if my bets for this year join these ranks, Star Trek: Ambush and Yorktown...

My pick:

5. Horizon
4. HF: The Battle is Joined
3. Intrepid: The Stone Unturned
2. Renegades
1. World Enough and Time

Mine:

1. "The Tressaurian Intersection" (Starship Exeter)
2. "World Enough and Time" (Star Trek New Voyages)
3. "Lolani" (Star Trek Continues)
4. "The Price of Anything" (Starship Farragut)
5. "The Savage Empire" (Starship Exeter)

In the spirit of the WSJ piece- (One could infer that- for the purpose of the article- Trek means Kirk and company's 50th)- I'll throw in my five cents:

(Absolute Best First)

1. "World Enough and Time" (Star Trek New Voyages)
2. "Fairest of Them All" (Star Trek Continues)
3. "Lolani" (Star Trek Continues)
4. "Pilgrim of Eternity" (Star Trek Continues)
5. To Serve All My Days* (Star Trek New Voyages)

*(The "...Night in 1969" version- with retro commercials- it's magically delicious!)

Much like Woody Allen Movies- many of us seem to gravitate toward each production's "earlier, better works"

Or, as I mentioned to my wife the other day- Why did they each- all of a sudden- start putting peanut butter on what had been- the perfect Reuben? Sure, peanut butter is healthier than corned beef- but it just don't go wit' da slaw.

Its more of a Fan Edit then Fan Film, but I must say, I have watched the TOS pilot style recut of Final Frontier infinitely more times then I have ever watched the movie.

True, but this is it's charm, IMHO.

I wish they would remaster it with new FX, but the movie itself I found eminently watchable. I also find it funny that it deals with Kirk's birth, time travel and blowing up planets, taking riffs from Star Wars, much like '09 haha. Its a joy to see Nichols and Koenig, and I love Uhura's ending and the clever explanation for using a TOS ship instead of a movie era ship. I just wish they had been able to get the original actors for Charlie and Gary. Overall, it was one of the first fanfilms I ever watched (I actually think I watched it come out in its original 3 pieces) and will always have a special place in Trek "canon" for me. :D
