A very nice model and animation, but the ship's design is really ugly ;) - not exactly Eaves' best...

Out.
Freaking.
Standing.

Thank you.

A nitpick: the running lights' strobe rate does not seem to change when the whole scene slows down.

Thanks, guys! :)

I did a version slowing the lights as well. but I found it to be overall more dynamic without slowing them. Personal choice as far as aestethics go on my part.

It's not John's, it's Ryan Dening's design, and I love the design myself (obviously).

It's not an Eaves design.

Sure, but what did you think of the animation, sojourner?

Excellent of course! Surprised you didn't have the nacelles swing out and go to warp.

On an unrelated note, whatever happened to that project you are doing with Eaves?

Nice work! Looks awesome. :)

Thanks, BolianAdmiral. :)

Thanks, dude! :)

I had completed my initial work long ago (although the producer has asked me to do some other stuff as well along the way). With the producer's permission to post them, you can see the seven ships I built for the project on my website.

As to the project itself, they are still working on the website itself. Should not be too much longer now, eh.

Freakkin' sweet. Gotta tell ya though, While I was surfing the net this afternoon and this video was cueing up, I was listening to music from Ken Burn's Civil War documentary. So right in the middle of some nice easy mid-19th century piano music

!!!!!!!

I just about jumped out of my skin.

Nice animation too.

Just as long as you know we've got our eyes on you and won't let you get away with anything. You remind all your Hollywood friends about that too!

Niiiiiice Deg. What technique/plugin did you use for the starfield effect? That's top notch.

Thanks, guys! :)

Surprised you didn't have the nacelles swing out and go to warp.

I second that!!!

Oh, I forgot to comment on sojourner's comment, eh. Beg pardon.

Ya know, I just don't like the look of the ship with the nacelles fully raised, thus I keep them at "half-mast." Also, the clip is actually just re-purposed from a new scene I created for my demo-reel, to show the model off itself (thus the roll), and is so quick really, I didn't want to "busy it up" too much with nacelle(s) deployment. Plus, like I said, I prefer the ship with the nacelles in this config.

What technique/plugin did you use for the starfield effect?

That is an excellent, yet sadly now defunct, plugin for LightWave called, Hyperspace.

Does "Hyperspace" also provide the general starfield?

One thing I've been struggling with is finding a practical way to do a reasonable starfield effect... with, or without, "streaky stars"...

It's not defunct as long as my six-year-old LightWave dongle doesn't give out!! Seriously, Newtek really needs to rethink their copy protection mechanism. The idea that your plugins could suddenly become inert bits of software flotsam if a USB dongle suddenly were lost or damaged... is frickin' nuts.

There is, or rather was, a tri-suite of Hyper plugs; Hyperspace, Hyperstars, and Hyperglow. However, the author seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. His website is gone, and no-one seems to know what became of him, thus the plugs being defunct, as far as being able to purchase them any longer.

There is another plug called StarPro out there for LightWave, but it's pretty pricey.
