W.

Looks interesting, but I'm a little reluctant after the historical disservice Stone perpetrated with JFK.

If your going to see Stone movies for there accuracy, then well your in for a disapointment.
I don't really care if W. is "accurate" or not. Pres. Bush has been skewed by every latenight talk show and then some. Stone is just another person skewing him.
I for one will see the movie for that purpose and that purpose alone.

Word is that there's plenty of humor as well. And after all the sturm und drang of the past 8 years, I'll be glad to glean a few chuckles from it if I can.

I actually got to see W. this past Tuesday night. Brolin has the mannerisms down; Thandie Newton is a hoot as Condi Rice. Really, there aren't any problems with the acting or the story, as long as you don't take what happens as gospel. It's a scary movie if events happened the way they're portrayed.

W. doesn't pander to the audience with needless exposition. You either know who these people are or you don't. You know the names they mention (like Roger Ailes, for instance) or you don't. Like I say in my review: liberals will love it, conservatives will hate it, the world will think we're bigger buffoons than they did before. (For the record, I gave it a 7 out of 10.)

Just got back from seeing it.

I'm giving it a shrug and a "meh."

I generally like Oliver Stone's work but something seemed missing here, there wasn't much substansive. All of the actors turn in good performances of the political figures and leaders they're potraying but overall I'm not sure what this movie had to say. And, somehow, I expected more but the movie's man focus seemed to be on the initial attack on Iraq and that was pretty much it. I expected more on Bush's "failures" or time in office, like Katrina.

I dunno I liked it, probably worth seeing. In the theater at full price?

Not so sure.

I give it a C+

I will say, though, that Elizabeth Banks makes for a hot Laura Bush.

I just got back... I really, really enjoyed it. I want to give W. a big hug right now.

I walked into the film at 10:30 PM. after a long day at work, as I waited for the film to start I felt worn down and really sleepy but within a couple of minutes of W. I felt totally awake and alert, I just got drawn into the film. It was just a really interesting portrait of a misunderestimated man.

Dammit. I was looking forward to watching this, but the theaters around here didn't get it  So, I guess me and my ladyfriend are going to have to drive to Lexington to watch it.

I'm surprised they made this before Bush left office. I mean, we don't even really know how the story ends yet.

The economy tanks even more, terrorists blow up Yellowstone and W. trips and falls off a balcony while trying to steal framed paintings on his last night in office.

You can almost write the script yourself when it comes to this clueless fucktard!

I enjoyed the movie. As expected, Josh Brolin did an incredible job of playing Bush. It was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen. At one point, I couldn't even tell if I was looking at Josh or at footage of the real George Bush. It was brief a moment during his visit to the aircraft carrier. Thandie Newton was also pretty good as Condoleezza Rice.

Tell us how you really feel

I had very low expectations, but outside of a couple of criticisms, I thought it was a surprisingly strong movie. Probably Stone's strongest since Nixon more than ten years ago (although I haven't seen every film made in that period).
