Voyager's novelverse refit

I like what the Germans are doing with their covers, they seem to put a lot of effort into them, something that has been lacking in the US releases at times.

But their Voyager is simply an abomination, not only in design but also in excecution. Can't wait to see Mark's work on this, his Vesta and Merian classes are top-notch!!

I quite like this new look, I always thought the nacelles looked too small on the original. It definitely looks better than the new look DS9.

Thanks! I have been looking at some research and concept work from Rick Sternbach. There is this (known) concept that has a big "fin" up top, it would function as a shield emitter. It was a bit too much, but I thought it could come back on the ventral side. (Smaller and in a thinner shape.) The antennae up top probably will be gone in the next evolution. :)

The big fins were something of a tip o' the hat to Dave Deitrick, and also an element that could have been eliminated by the producers with little harm to the overall design process. As Robert Heinlein told me personally back in the early 1970s, "always give the editors something to cut."

How does that explain the "All Good Things" Enterprise, then? ;)

I'm curious if any thought was given to the bridge of the refit Voyager? If everything on the outside has changed, I wonder if the interior has been given more than a fresh coat of grey paint?

There's a new look to DS9?

As for Voyager, the new look is really nice. I like the newer nacelles - larger engines and no moving parts that could get jammed and cause the ship not to go to warp. I hope the bridge gets a central captain's chair like other vessels have. That was my biggest gripe about the bridge, aside from the engineering and science stations practically never being used.

Yep. Pics here.
DS9 was destroyed by the Typhon Pact, Starfleet built a new state-of-the-art station to replace it. Ro Laren is in command.

It's been awhile since I read Full Circle, but I'm pretty sure a separate captain's chair has been added.

Not so much a seperate chair, but a third chair was added for the Fleet Commander, when he/she is needed on the bridge. Meaning that the captain's chair is now in the middle.

Great!
I hated the two 'co-Captain' seats- like the ship was designed for Chakotay to assume a position on...
