Voyager's low ratings...?

But what if TOS books are no loonger available, you have compability problems with VHS players and new TV:s and Star Trek DVD:s are no longer available due to Star Trek not being popular anymore?
Given that I never found Star Trek to be popular when growing up, especially TOS, but could pick up books at local library, secondhand stores and such I have not experienced this problem.

You must always expect the unexpected and have a "Plan B".
Nope, I don't.

Mileage may vary but never has my ability to access Trek dependent on such nebulous concepts as "popularity." And I grew up in a rural area with a small library, which is far different from now when I can find books online without difficulty.

Older Star Trek books are terribly expensive.
A shame that there are no re-issues of books from the time when Star Trek was good and we had three series going on TV.

Stating that "Seven saved the show" was a propaganda lie and nothing more. but I guess that they must have something to come up with to explain why they put Ryan in a catsuit and an excuse for the bad treatment of Lien.

The ratings did rise for a short while after Seven joined but continued to go down after a while.

However, I never understood the panic which was caused by the ratings.

Voyager had good enough ratings during season 1-3 to avoid such panic and even later on it still had a solid fan base to survive for those seven seasons which those in charge were so obsessed with for every series.

Yes, but even more the constant sloppy writing.

Ratings:
The show had a steady decline, also the series failed because of lazy writing.

The lazy writing was what really dragged the series down.

Which was tragic because the premise was great and it had great characters. It could have been so much more and been so much better than it was.

I had no idea. I'll have to dig into my collection and start selling them. I have several boxes full.

Don't do that! You will regret it!

They won't pay you much for the books but the day you realize your mistake and start to buy them back, you will be paying horrible prices for them. If they still are available.

And then you'll be stuck with 2020's Star Trek doom-and-gloom books where each and every character you have liked will be killed of or destroyed in some way.

Hold on to them. Once Trek is canceled the value will increase.

So far my favorite characters endure.

Destroyed is just not the same thess days, like phasers on Voyager.

I wish I could say the same

Kes: Destroyed!

Garak:
Turned to a Bajoran in some weird plot and killed off in a recent book.

Gowron: Killed off!

Quark. Ah, they will probably ruin him too!

I could probably include some more characters too but those I mentioned are my top favorites together with Q.

And that's destroyed?

No.

I was off that day. Besides, my boss would never waste a corpse.

Janeway abused their lack of resources by leaving old Kes in Stasis... But what about Captain Kullah from Basics I & II?

Not because he's a Savage, but because he's practically a 21st century Asrronaut who's life is wholesale dependant on recycling.

If the Kazon had found that barely hidden vault of fresh meat, Kullah would have made a coat from her hide and stir fried her cute little toes.

*looks up "Destroyed" in the dictionary.*

I will take your word for it then.
What they did to Kes was terrible. They dumped the character, fired the actress and brought her back three years later just to destroy the character.

She had Script approval on Fury.

Originally it was called Furry, and the story was about Kes going back in time, to bang Neelix before she turns 9, and her sexuality withers.

I checked on several of them. Cost/value can be somewhat subjective, but i'm not finding any of them to be particularly valuable. They seem to average out to about $10 or so a book.

Thsts my experience, as well as digital copies are becoming easier to find. But, who knows? Apparently they're valuable somewhere...

Krs was terrible.

But, the others? Or Trek in general? Destroyed seems a bit much.

Mileage will vary, I suppose.

She got her "script approval" because she didn't like that they were planning to kill off the3 character at the end of the episode and asked them to change the end of the episode. That was her only participation when it comes to that horrible script.

As for the rest of your comments, I rest my case. I find them totally irrelevant.

Kes was the best character in Star Trek, One of my winning cards!

Doesn't really address the point but fair enough.

I would have her in my top 10, with other characters like Spock, Bashir, Kirk, Sisko, Ezri Dax, Tuvok, Torres, Paris, and Uhura.
