VOYAGER Relaunch Novels

...but Ranul Keru as the security chief.

Which is also an interesting example. Wasn't Ranul Keru introduced as working in Stellar Cartography on the Enterprise-E in Rogue? And he becomes Chief of Security on Titan? :vulcan: Maybe I'm mis-remembering...

^I believe that's correct, yes. Although between those jobs, Keru spent some time as a warden at the symbiont pools on Trill.

Quick Q, have there only been 4 Voyager relaunch books been released so far:

Homecoming
Farther Shore
Spirit Walk 1
Spirit Walk 2

I believe there were other Voyager titles released over the last few years, but I think they took place during the TV show?

Also, I understand there are 2 post Voyager relaunch books out this year (Thanks Christopher). Are these 2 basically the 4th and 5th Voyager relaunch novels?

If all this is true, it seems odd that Titan has had more novels out than there have been Voyager relaunch novels.

Thanks and cheers!

There have been two VOY-R books after Spirit Walk:

Full Circle and Unworthy, both written by Kirsten Beyer.

This year another one will be published with Children of the Storm, also written by her.

Thanks. And Full Circle/Unworthy take place pre-Destiny?

Full Circle covers two years, from before Destiny through it and slightly afterwards. Unworthy and Children both pick up from there, taking place after Destiny.

Read Christie Golden's 4 novels before Destiny, then read Full Circle and the rest after you've read Destiny.

I've read Homecoming and Farther Shore. I have the 2-part Spirit Walk, but its still on my to-read pile.

Heck, to be honest, you can skip all four of Golden's novels, as the Full Circle novel recaps things briefly in the early chapters. Homecoming and Farther Shore are good for some background, but Spirit Walk isn't too vital to the reading.

I was able to follow FC and Unworthy after a little research on Memory Beta, the non-canon Trek wiki. I don't know if you go to Memory Beta at all Janos, but it's pretty much the best TrekLit related site on the web. Just be careful there are obviously spoilers in the articles.

agreed, if anything because you shouldnt be put off of the voyager series to not read those two. they are bigger, but quick and easy to read.

on another note, goodness this thread is a couple years old. i came across a post that was a surprise to me while reading, and i dont post much.

I appreciate all the advice everyone has given me around here. It certainly does seem like that Voyager is well liked around here.

At the end of the day, I have a fair bit of catching up to do with a pile of DS9 books, Lost Era, MU, and Destiny/TP stuff to get caught up with. That doesn't include the 3 or 4 new books I'll be getting this Spring/Summer. I just don't like Voyager enough to get on another series at this time. I do have Spirit Walk 1 and 2. If those turn out to be my last Voyager issues for a while, well then I would have read the old editorial team / Christie Golden's Voyager relaunch. I also have the first Titan books and I'm stopping there too. I'll still read the 2 remaining Voyagers and the first 4 Titan books at some point, but they aren't on my priority pile right now. I may not even get to them this year with all the other ST books I'll be reading (as per my post elsewhere).

I will continue to read other ST books beyond my core 2 series of DS9 and NF, but they'll be based on concepts I like (e.g. MU), authors I follow (e.g. Krad, PAD), and interesting back cover blurbs (e.g. Destiny, DTI, etc.). There may be some Voyager lit in my future, but its not in my immediate future. :(

So, I have read Homecoming and The Farther Shore and read them.

The only reason I gor Spirit Walk 1 and 2 was b/c I think that was supposed to first full adventures with Chakotay as Captain and I was curious about his sister too. Is what I'm sensing here is that I should just give these 2 books to Goodwill b/c they aren't good? They are thin books I believe.

^Agreed, then you can decide for yourself if they're good or not. Most around here don't like them, but that doesn't mean you wont. I liked them well enough, not the greatest by any stretch, but decent enough.

I enjoyed the Spirit Walk books. And they sold very well, apparently going into multiple reprints, so they can't have been that widely reviled. It's never wise to assume that a few outspoken critics on the Internet represent a universal consensus.

I never picked up the Spirit Walk books for some reason; I went directly from The Farther Shore to Full Circle and didn't feel like I'd missed anything. (And I hadn't read TFS in several years when I picked up FC.)

I didn't like the Spirit Walk books but I wasn't a hater, I just assumed I wasn't the target audience, me not liking Voyager and all...

Kirsten Beyer has accomplished something with her re-launch books I didn't think was possible, make me want to read another Voyager book.
