It went from short and feathery to long and curly, seemingly overnight. Maybe it was a subtle reference to the Doctor's ability to medically stimulate hair follicles to grow, like what he did to Seven of Nine.

Due to that episode *snaps my fingers* GUY what is it called? Lynx? OH right, Before and After. We assumed when she was going through time periods it defaulted to a place where she kept the long hair. (And actress needed a reason to keep long hair. the fake ear adhesive were harming her ears. she was allergic to the glue)

Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that. It's not the first time something like that has happened though, Virginia Hey who played Zhaan in Farscape had to leave due to her makeup making her ill, unfortunately being covered in blue makeup wasn't something that could be remedied with a change in hairstyle. She was my favourite Farscape character, too...

She was my favourite Farscape character, too...

you know, perhaps that's why they did away with that? Green people, blue, what have you. Apart from reapplication delays, it could be dangerous to absorb those paints for such a prolonged run wouldn't you think?

When Zhaan returns as a one-off later on in 'John Quixote' you can tell they did something different with her makeup and she wears a bald cap over her regular hair. You can see the latex pulling on the back of her neck as she turns her head in a couple of scenes.

I was so happy to see Zhaan return in that episode, I loved her in the series.

I never really thought about it, but there aren't a lot of flattering haircuts in Star Trek. I do have to admit to kinda digging Janeway's hair in that Gothic holonovel of hers, though.

Well, I liked Janeway's short hair in S4 and s5. And Tom Paris haircuts in first seasons.

I share your feeling about those two.
However, I had to warm up to her short hair. As a kid I always looked forward to how they'd do her hair on away missions now it's same hair different week. This coming from a kid who liked to style her dolls hair all the time. As an adult i can appreciate even find beauty in her short styles.
