Why did we never see these Phaser Rifles outside these ships. Even during DS9 which ran along Voyager and was in the Alpha Quadrant used the ugly old style phasers what gives

Pretty sure they were originally from the Next Gen movie First Contact.
Voyager also inherited FC's spacesuits and Borg props. DS9 got the uniforms, it seems.

The compression phaser rifles were made for VOY, First Contact used a whole array of new rifles.
I'd assume that they were in use on other ships, but the TNG rifles might be preferred during the war to their slimmer design.

Just googled and you're right. For some reason I thought they were the FC phaser rifles all this time.
I dunno, I kind of prefer the clunky old TNG phaser rifle to the VOY one. It's not terrible, but aesthetically I don't care for the pointy front or the joined handles that makes it look like a gun for an action figure.
DS9 also used the FC spacesuit at least once.

IIRC, aren't the two officers who beam unto the Prometheus's bridge at the end of Message in a Bottle also armed with compression rifles?
The FC rifles did show up on Voyager towards the end of the third season and throughout the fourth before disappearing.
