Voyager 25th Anniversary

I'm a little disappointed that we haven't heard about any Voyager books or comics coming from Pocket/Gallery or IDW for Voyager's 25th anniversary, beyond To Lose The Earth, which was delayed and not even originally planned for this year. 25 is a pretty big one, so it would have been nice to get at least one or two comics or novels set during the series.
I had been thinking about rereading the String Theory trilogy before I knew about the anniversary, and now that I know about it, I definitely will be.

Yeah, the Hero Collector folks are putting out the Voyager: A Celebration book, but I tend to find those (as well as the Titan "companions" for Discovery and the like) underwhelming. My hopes aren't very high.

I would've loved another Voyager trilogy, even set during the show's run; now that Kirsten Beyer's television and comic responsibilities seem to preclude novel-writing, setting it in the past may have allowed others to play in the sandbox more easily. But I'm guessing the demand isn't there.

I've been reading those pretty regularly since you started doing them.
There's also Titan's Janeway Autobiography, due out in September.
That's coming out this year? I thought it wasn't coming out until next year.

And some goober is doing a rewatch of Voyager in honor of its 25th anniversary over on Tor.com.....

(Said rewatch will hit the end of season two on Monday.)

It seems people still have pretty strong opinions about the episode "Tuvix." There was no right answer to the dilemma they faced, but even without needing the status quo to return, I can understand Janeway choosing the option that restores her dear friend Tuvok.

I am very excited to see Una McCormack's Janeway book later this year.

You’re probably thinking of the Spock autobiography, which has been delayed to 2021. The Janeway book is still due out this year, thought it was originally scheduled for July and was then pushed back to September.

Oh, OK that must be it.
I have to admit, I was a tiny big disappointed the autobiography wasn't written by Kirsten Beyer, but I understand that she's very busy now.
I'm very curious to see what Una McCormack's take on Janeway is going to be like.

There are a lot of negative reviews for that Voyager 25th anniversary book, mostly about it being low quality and cheaply put together physically. There is a listing for another Voyager book due to come out in October - "Star Trek: Voyager - A Celebration". Not entirely sure what that one is supposed to be. If we're talking about choices of characters on the covers of books, I'm kind of shocked that there is something Voyager-related coming out that doesn't feature Seven in one of her catsuits.

Has there been any more news about that Voyager documentary that was supposed to be in the works from the guys who did the DS9 doc? I remember that it was supposed to start filming at the beginning of this year on the Trek Cruise where they had the anniversary of the cast, but then covid hit right after that and everything shut down. I hope it's still happening.

ETA: Whoops, just realized somebody else mentioned the Celebration book up-thread. I thought they were referring to the other 25th anniversary book.

There's also the next book in the "illustrated handbook" series from Eaglemoss/HeroCollector, Star Trek: The U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656 Illustrated Handbook: Captain Janeway's Ship from Star Trek: Voyager (due out in July).

Eaglemoss/Hero Collector's 25th anniversary celebration of "Star Trek: Voyager" is now out and is a chunky 248pp glossy hardcover.

I'm kind of shocked that there is something Voyager-related coming out that doesn't feature Seven in one of her catsuits.

"A Celebration" does devote an entire section to the silver catsuit. ;)

This book is in much more in-depth than the various slim Titan companions (including Titan's VGR "anniversary special" book, pictured below right).

... the autobiography...
I'm very curious to see what Una McCormack's take on Janeway is going to be like.

Now also an audio book, read by Kate Mulgrew.

Pleasantly surprised with Voyager: A Celebration. I think the days of companions like the one Deep Space Nine received are long gone, but if you were to combine its interviews with the bare-bones edition Voyager originally received, you'd have a much more respectable retrospective.

I still find myself wishing I knew so much more about this show. Although I prefer it to Voyager, it's somewhat maddening that Deep Space Nine was so much more respectfully documented when they ran concurrently for so many seasons. Maybe the creative process behind VOY episodes wasn't as interesting (something I doubt). But at this point, this is probably the best we'll get. Thanks to the authors for getting this out there!
