Wow, this is a TOUGH one! For an episode that never seems to make the popular episodes list, some very imaginative choices on avatars were made. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a bunch tie for 1st and 2nd.

I completely agree. Personally I love The Empath, but it hardly ever makes any favorites lists. I think the great selection of avatars in this contest is a testament to this episode's visual appeal. Even someone who happens to find the plot way to slow can't deny that there are numerous interesting shots and effects in The Empath.

As someone who does think that the pacing of this episode is way too slow, I definitely agree. The abstract, minimalist set is very compelling.

I think this is a great episode. The crew run into a TOTALLY ALIEN situation and have to stay alive. Their physical and moral endurance is tested completely and they make it through. That's us up there. We can make it through too.
