Well China, India and the EU are all larger markets than the US given their population size. But fine if you want it to be related to energy drinks sold in the US the thread title should really have reflected that.
I think it is new. I was not aware of the brand before my stepson became involved with it. This article has a dateline of December 9, 2012 and refers to it as a "new energy drink."
Hey, I used to love Jolt. But I had to stop waking up dizzy in truck stop diner parking lots in Wyoming with blood all over me. That stuff's....strong.
My vote is for an energy drink that doesn't brand itself as an energy drink.. It's called Eco-drink and it's basically a daily multivitamin in a powder that you mix with water. It comes in a couple of flavors and is really quite good... I noticed after the first time I drank a 20 oz. bottle that I was quite alert and refreshed. It does have sucralose, which I know some people don't like, but it also has stevia... One packet equals one serving, but I find it so sweet that I usually split the packet between two bottles during the day. Ecodrink
This. I've never tried it, but I'm curious if anyone here has... I'm not much into energy drinks. They're mostly disgusting chemical concoctions. About the only one I ever use is Emergen'C, which is more like a fruit punch in taste and has lots of good vitamins without nasty additives.
5-Hour Energy actually does a pretty good job. It's mostly caffeine and B-vitamins. Helps you stay alert without feeling like you just drank a big can of sugar and chemicals.
And then there's the notorious Four Loko line of alcoholic energy drinks, and the less said about those yucky train wrecks the better. An energy beverage that's 12, 16 or 24-proof? You do the math.
For energy? Redline, which is like a giant 5-hour energy with energy drink stuff added in. It burns a little when you drink it and you're supposed to drink half the bottle and then wait a few hours to drink the rest. For taste, either Redbull or the new white-can sugar free Monster. Has a very mild taste, kind of a light grapefruit or blood orange sort of flavor. Not too sweet, not too harsh. . . just right. It is called Ultra Zero or something like that.
Perhaps those folks living in other countries could tell us about energy drinks that are sold in their countries. I am sure that the Aussie, British, Kiwis and others have energy drinks that we have not heard of.

Um...once a year? Though if you're interested in a cocktail, this recipe was given to me by a concession worker from the circus: It's Mother-Fuckin' Business Time Over ice, pour 1 container of 5-Hour Energy (flavor of your choice) 1 shot of vodka Top with Sprite For those times when you're too sleepy to go out, but you still want to drink.
I have never needed Energy drinks to stay awake, so I don;t drink them. I did drink a bunch of Red Bulls when I was on acid about 20 years ago, made the visuals go wheeeeeeee!
