Vote for me. I was abducted by aliens

Your examples are much worse because they all involve elected officials. This lady from Florida won't even be nominated
Many a person has lost a bet underestimating the weirdness of Florida.

Three blond, big-bodied beings — two females, one male
Sounds like she was abducted by illegal alien Swedes. Scandanaliens? Borg? Thor? Did she start to identify with her captors because she had Phonehome Syndrome?

I've heard it said that something like 45% of Americans believe cavemen co-existed with dinosaurs. The US is a lost cause for rational thought and dumbing down of the population almost seems deliberate. I'm surprised it still functions as a technological society. Europe, Russia and China might take advantage to hasten its decline.

Eh... there are various types of misinformation found among all populations, even those that are highly modernized.

In the most industrialized and scientific East Asian countries, there is a widespread notion that your blood type indicates your personality, with all kinds of pseudo-scientific popular literature about it, and it has reportedly led to instances of employment discrimination. And in a 2005 European Union survey, 44% of respondents thought the sun goes around the Earth.

French employers apparently give credence to being able to deduce personality from handwriting analysis. So, yes, the US doesn't have a monopoly on such idiocy. I'm worried about such a high proportion of people thinking that the sun orbits the earth but hopefully they will be content living in their caves banging rocks together.
