I've been rewatching the original VOLTRON show lately, and while it's still fun to watch, it's nowhere nearly as good as it was when our ages could be measured in single digits. This show seems awesome.
 
I'll give it a try. The animation certainly isn't on the epic scale of "ThunderCats" that's for sure

To anyone with Comcast On Demand the first two episodes are up in the Kids Section under Nick under Nicktoon Action. So far I have to say it's pretty good. Nice premise and everything. But yes the rap song is the opening (it's not as bad as it seems actually) but the original theme is still around in the background every once and a while.

There are three young cadets in training that serve as assistants to the senior members of the team. The series takes place a number of years after the original.
 
Hey, did you guys catch the near note-for-note copy of Star Trek's (2009) "Enterprising Young Men" during the caper in Wade's quarters? The music is way too similar to be a coincidence.

Liked the reboot, BTW.

Agreed. I caught some of it last night, and while the CG Lion animation was ok (if a bit too rubbery and cutesy for my taste), the character animation was dreadful, and looked like something you'd see in a cheap online cartoon. And the two styles didn't seem to mix well at all.
 
I loved Voltron as a kid, but I have to say that now at 38, I vastly prefer GoLion and Dairugger instead.
