Virgin No More

The first movie I saw in my local cinema was Santa Claus: The Movie and the last was Star Trek: Insurrection. Not long after that they closed it because another, larger cinema opened about a mile away.

Wow..is the Santa Movie the one with Dudley Moore? Man....if it is...i saw that movie too. Wasn't it made by the dude who made Superman movies???

It was indeed produced by Pierre Spengler and the Salkinds and yes it did have Dudley Moore in it.

I remember back in the day, here in san diego, when you had to go to a big screen, and I mean big screen, to see a movie. There were no 18-25 screen multiplexes. I remember waiting in line to see KHAN--ET--ROCKy 3--POLTERGIEST all in one summer....It was around ROGER RABBIT when the big-screens started to be taken down in favor of the big multi-plexes..at least, thats how I remember it being..

Heh, thanks to the Internet I never have to wait in line to see a movie - even The Dark Knight on opening night at the Odeon Leicester Square.

The first movie I recall seeing in a theater was The Wrath of Khan (with my dad) :D, but I was only six years old :D and I don't know what specific theater that was (somewhere in Memphis, TN).

The last movie I saw in a theater was Monsters vs. Aliens at Silver City cinema, Richmond, BC.

The first movie I saw at Silver City was The Matrix on April 18, 1999, the day I met my spouse.

Incidentally, the part of The Wrath of Khan that I most vividly remember from that experience was the ear-creatures, and Kirk's phasor sound as he killed Chekov's creature. :)

I loved how the TOUCHY FEELY fans, and GR himself, derided Kirk for killing the parasite that had just oozed out of Chekov's ear.

"Kirk, being the explorer that he was, would have saved the creature for posterity"...

To HELL WITH THAT!!! I hope CHRIS PINE brings back the KICK ass Kirk that I have been missing since KHAN!!!

the first film i saw anywhere was The Rocketeer. that was at the Gloucester cinema. the last film i saw at that cinema was Wallace and Gromitt: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

The first film i saw in my town's cinema was Harry Potter IV. the last was Fast and Furious.

i've also been to 2 cinemas in Oxford and one in Cheltenham.

When I was growing up, there was this little neighbourhood theatre by my parents' house called the Hyland. I first remember being taken to see ET back in the early 80s, and I was very upset when it shut down.

A couple of years ago it reopened as an arts theatre, so the last movie I saw there was Mongol.

How was Mongol? I go to 'artsie' films from time to time and saw that poster...Back in the day, the best theatre to go to in my area was inside of a mall...but as time went by, and 'stadium seating' theatres came along, it was converted into a workout gym. The last movie I saw there was Memento...

^ Great movie. Sticks pretty closely to the first third of John Man's biography of Genghis Khan. Rumour has it they're making another two films.

The earliest one that I actually remember what it was was Star Wars, during a 1980 re-release. I was three. Later on I remember seeing ET, Gremlins, Star Trek 2 and Superman 3 in that same theater. It was a little small-town, one screen place.

The first time I saw a digital screen movie was Attack of the Clones and man was I blown away. I can still remember that opening shot of Padme's ship descending through the clouds to Coruscant I actually said "WOW!" outloud :D And the first movie I went to see in my current new theater was Transformers, which was the first digital screen I'd seen in years so I was once again blown away with the image quality.

I saw Swiss Family Robinson at an old downtown one-screen theater which is long gone to the wrecking ball... probably 3rd grade, and since it was a Disney movie my friends and I were allowed to go alone [it was a few blocks from my house]... last movie I saw was Watchmen, at the local gigaplex theater.

[Geek confession: When I read the thread title I immediately thought of Rocky Horror... ... I saw that in Provincetown once, 'twas a very *ahem* enthusiastic crowd. :D

I saw Rocky Horror 25 times at midnight showings.

this is a very poorly named....awfully named message thread

but the first movie I saw and *remembered* with destinct clarity for months afterwards was 1989's "Batman"; I was four.

First movie i saw in a cinema centre was Stargate (back in the 90s when they started to build these huge cinema buildings).

They had all the latest projection and sound tech and when that alien ship lands on the pyramid the entire room rumbled with the sound. Awesome experience :techman:

Mine was back in the 70s. I was ... I think 5 years old? My parents brought me there to watch a kiddie movie but I also ended up watching a sort of documentary of an archeological dig. It was in black and white. The most unfortunate thing was, I knew exactly what the heck I was watching .. skeletons in graves. I don't recall if I had nightmares.

Couldn't remember what was the last movie I watched in the theatre recently. It had been a long time.

Reminds of when my mother took me to see DARK SHADOWS the movie. There use to be this soap opera kind of show with vampires. They put out a two-hour version, looked just like one of the TV episodes. Well, it so happened that it was a double feature. The companion film? Night of the Living Dead...I was scarred for life..
