Villains that you absolutely despise

The Borgified Corpse

There are those villains that we love simply because they are so darn entertaining (i.e. Darth Vader, Captain Barbosa, practically every villain on Buffy the Vampire Slayer). But what about villains that are simply so vile that you feel nothing but revulsion for them and hope that the heroes kill off ASAP? Who are some of your favorite truly vile villains?

For me...

Sylar on Heroes. The way he uses his finger to cut your skull open just makes my skin crawl.

Caleb on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Most of the villains on that show I loved because they were so great at chewing scenery. But Caleb crossed the line when he gouged out Xander's eye.

Darconda on Power Rangers in Space. Perhaps he's kinda tame by adult standards but for that show he was surprisingly cruel, especially when we found out that he kidnapped Andros' sister.

What about you? Which villains to you hate to hate?

For me, generally it's incompetently executed villains rather than violently repulsive ones. Am frequently a big fan of the latter; I enjoyed the two sadists in Haneke's original Funny Games and am looking forward to their American counterparts this April.

To give an unfortunate example of the kind of villain I despise (unfortunate because I was obliged to watch part of this film), Andy Dick's rabbit in Hoodwinked!. He's not funny or entertaining in any way, he's strictly annoying. Also, that fop from The Fifth Element.

Hannibal Lecter

A highly intelligent man working in a field that usually helps people with problems yet inside he's just so shiver inducing mad and inhumane.

I would have to go with Jason Isaacs' Colonel Tavington from The Patriot; An excellent performance. That guy was about as vile a slimeball as I've ever seen. Burning an entire villiage to death, killing children with satisfaction, and all the while chewing up every scene he was in. He was so despicable, even his superiors and officers were creeped out by him. I couldn't wait for that bastard to get his comeuppance. Say what you want about Mel Gibson, the man knows evil, and how best to get it out of his actors. :techman:

Goetz on Jericho. Damn, that guy creeped me out every second he was on-screen.

Joy

Not an entirely fictional character, either, as Tavington was apparently based on a real British soldier, Banastre Tarleton.

Lord Cutler Beckett from POTC 2 and 3

unlike Davy Jones, Barbosa or Norrington, he seems to have absolutely no redeeming features (evven if it's merely being hugely entertaining) instead just being a complete c***

Megatron

President Clark

Whoever changed the formula on Carnation Breakfast Bars
(this always bugged the heck out of me  ) and made them...urgh...chewy

Yeah, but the real guy didn't kill poor Odo, or leave us with what I'm sure will become an even more disturbing Heath Ledger death scene, upon future viewings; Two more reasons I neglected to mention in my original post for why this guy couldn't die fast enough. Good read though, thanks for the link.

Gary Oldman in The Professional.

Antonio Banderas in Assassins. It wasn't a very good movie, but his character was just a total prick.

Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin in Team America? :)

I hate almost all the bad guys on Smallville, but that's almost entirely the fault of the piss-poor writing.

President Logan from I believe it was Season 5. It was the season with the treasonous President and the cover-up scandal. Itsin played the president so very well but Logan was such a bitch. It was great when the wife bitch slapped him.

From a few years back - Horton form Highlander the series. Hated his guts, despised him. Met the actor at a con I was working. Lovely bloke.

Mrs. Iselin, as played by Angela Lansbury in the original The Manchurian Candidate. Lord, what an evil, despicable bitch. All villains in every movie and TV show I've ever seen (including Blakes 7's immortal Servalan) look like Goldilocks next to her.

Charles Lee Ray (Chucky) from Child's Play. That toy used to give me nightmares as a kid.

Rick Berman & Brannon Braga - just kidding I don't mind them.

Nah, I was always rooting for chucky, he was much better than that stupid kid. Frankly I don't know why he even wanted to steal his body, being a killer doll is much cooler.

Marlo Stanfield from The Wire

An absolutely cold, heartless and calculating villian who you hoped would get got.

Also it was pretty cool to see the actor who played him (Jamie Hector) appear as a soldier in the finale of Jericho

Vern Shillinger from Oz. A piece of human trash if there ever was one.

What character from Oz *wasn't* human trash?

Anyway, here's some more villains I despise: Horror movie monsters who JUST.WON'T.DIE. They just keep coming back, again and again and again, like a broken record or some shit. Endless sequels, endless crap. These characters should not be immortal! Pinhead, Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, etc. etc. Why can't they just DIE and get it over with?

Winner!

Even Louise Fletcher's Nurse Ratched in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest wasn't so thoroughly unsympathetic a character.
