So it was about people getting too easily offended over things nowadays?
Pretty much.So it was about people getting too easily offended over things nowadays?
Maybe I should try it again. I got to the point where it was looking like the whole thing was going to be about beating a single figure of speech to death, and I bailed.
Heh ... Then it would have been an EXTREMELY Short Trek.It was a joke that went on too long. Cut it in half and I think it would've been better.

PENNYWISE: You want to cut me in half!?!?!?It was a joke that went on too long. Cut it in half and I think it would've been better.

Al Pacino! Make it so.He was drawn to look like the actor who voiced him, comedian Pete Holmes. I assume we might see more of that type of thing.

Which seems very accurate to the world we live in today.Pretty much.
But in a completely over-the-top manner.
Exactly this. They made it I think because it was cheap to make for the most part and because it was funny as in really funny. You don't need to be a Trek fan to find it funny because the idea of people being easily outraged over innocent offenses is very much a part of the modern world. They just went with a over the top example of it. It's not that different from how modern Trek characters now speak in modern lingo. It's about trying to reach modern audiences. People shouldn't take it to serious. It's basically just a 3 to 4 minute skit. It doesn't take away from any of the current shows. It's just this small funny thing that exists.
I went back and watched the rest. Instead of working one figure of speech for the whole thing, they switched it up and ran through a list of other figures of speech, for which each had someone on the bridge to take offense. It was like Star Trek, as interpreted by the writers of sitcoms like Married With Children or Three's Company, with the captain being the character always finding himself in an embarrassing situation. The whole thing was basically some comedian doing his stand-up routine in the form of a 3 minute TAS short. And it was pretty stupid.
Yeah, they already managed expectations on these shorts in the trailer, saying something like "All but canon", or something like that. They have officially disavowed this miniseries from canonical Trek (in a somewhat clever way, IMO), so they can pretty much do whatever they want with it. I say bring mooooaaaar!!!I went back and watched the rest. Maybe good, if that's a type of humor you enjoy, but not so much, if you don't.
