Variety: 'Star Trek' moved from Christmas '08 to May '09

Look on the bright side, we finally got some new information about the next Trek movie. :guffaw:

Disappointing, yes. But hey, all those fans who thought there should've been a longer wait before bringing Trek back should be happy. ;)

Besides, five more months of bickering over whether Shat will be in the film or not should provide us some entertainment.

^ OH NO ! ^
Not 5 more months of Staner is he or isn't he in it ?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

My thoughts exactly! I'll join you in that "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH".

Its odd that this was announced so soon after the writers strike ended. I wonder if there will be any major re-writes? Maybe the movie was not turning out as good as JJ had hoped?

basically, they know it's going to tank at the box office whatever happens, so this is a last-ditch resort to save their asses.

Fuck Paramount! They ruined Christmas! This is kinda like hoping Santa Claus brings you an XBox 360 but instead he just drops your jammies and sodomizes you! BAD SANTA! BAD!

The Tribble must have seen his shadow. Oh well, at least Paramount is being honest enough to say screw the fans, we're releasing this thing when we think we can squeeze the most money out of it.

Sonuvabitch!!! I was having such a good night too because some guy thinking he's MODMAN comes to save us all, and then I find this out. I was so ready to go Christmas day. And I'm not sure if I can keep my first warning bottled up five more months. Well, it had better be bloody good.

So, any bets on how aweful this place is going to become with five more month of no knowledge? :p

If they thought it was going to tank, they'd bury it in January or August. The fact that they're moving it into the big summer movie season is more a sign of their confidence in the film than anything else.

Does this mean we are going to start getting all kinds of joke posts again becuase people will have nothing to talk about? I mean we are talking another year and a half until this movie is released now. Just when we where finally getting some stuff to talk about too. :brickwall:

Eh. The three or four delays in the release of A Scanner Darkly? That bugged me, so much so that when I found out that Philadelphia, the "metropolis" I live closest to, wasn't going to get the film until a week after the long-delayed "selected cities" release, I wanted to seriously hurt someone. Thank god for runaways...

But I digress. This news bothers me not at all.

Well on the bright side, it gives everyone another six months to figure out what's up with the "trailer Enterprise's proportions"

They're moving it into the summer season because they hope they'll mop up some of the sheep-moviegoers who go and see summer blockbusters regardless of what they are, or because the other popcorn flicks are sold out and people don't want a wasted trip to the theater, so they'll settle for anything.
