They should push it back another few weeks and call it The Long Halloween
It's funny to me that a lot of fans praise the movie Civil War in part on that it was supposedly better than the comic which they regard as at least pretty bad.
And yet a few times purists are not disappointed by an adaptation so it may be difficult to please them, their standards may be high, but not impossible.
It does happen but so rarely it would not be my guiding light.
I could see that happening if the rumors that it IS the Long Halloween are true.
It doesn't seem to be The Long Halloween. It is reported as a Year 2 Batman detective story and the main villain appears to be The Riddler. We'll see though.

I think the long halloween had more drawn from it with TDK. But it was one of many comics that inspired The Dark Knight Trilogy. It doesn't preclude it from it being used again in other movies. The rumor is that this movie will be a more full on version of that.
Before Batman Begins came out the Reaper was rumored to be the reaper (probably because his back story was similar to Ducard/Ras losing his wife. I'd love to see Year Two also. Old vigilante vs. New vigilante with different crime fighting philosophy.

I'm not sure Catwoman is really going to be a villain, these days she's presented as love interest for more often than a full on villain.

Any word on when filming might resume? I kind of wonder if the longer the social distancing goes on, not just in England but across the globe, the chances are the film might get pushed back into 2022 in order to complete the VFX and score.
Sometimes I think we should just do everything as animation for the next year or two.
