British actors tend to be more on the side of tall, gaunt, pale men similar to Robert Pattison.
I know there are actors like Jason Statham and Daniel Craig who are more fit but still look very British.

American actors tend to be beefier and more round faced.

Well, its kind of comforting to know that WB/DC movies will always be somewhat shit. Even with Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam being great, WB just can't resist being fucking terrible with at least some of its characters.

But, hey, if ruining Batman keeps WB from ruining WW, AM, and Shazam, I'm fine with that. I have good Batman movies/tv shows I can watch, so him being ruined for probably another decade, while unfortunate, isn't as big of a deal.

I think you misread something. I don't see any articles at all about him dropping out of the Batman. He's dropping out of a Joanna Hogg movie because it conflicts with his scheduling on the movie Tenet (and according to the same articles will probably start filming Batman as soon as Tenet is done).

That doesn't surprise me (misreading it) because I've seen at least one article headline that is misleading (probably deliberately so) on this count until you read the article itself.

Seriously, we survived several iterations of this character, good and bad and everything in between. What's ruined exactly?

Nothing. It survived the Burton/Schumacher years, and audiences move on. No character is doomed due to a bad film; it might bring a particular series to a fiery end (again, Burton/Schumacher), but there will always be new producers, writers, directors and actors to do their own thing. The Hulk survived the Ang Lee travesty; the DCEU's Wonder Woman made people finally divorce the character from Lynda Carter's fourth-wall breaking, wink-and-a-smile version, and I'm sure there will be another Fantastic Four that finally gets it right.
Same with Shazam.

As I've said about Pattinson, I will wait and see. He's not a walking version of that one character he's currently best known for, and WB would not want that feel/tone draped all over Batman in any case.

I am looking forward to seeing him as Bruce, but there was a meme of him as Terry with Michael Keaton as old Bruce in a Batman Beyond movie and I’d be all over that.

Jonah Hill is a terrible actor and by far the worst of the incredibly lacklustre modern generation of 'comedians'. He's also a horrifically bad casting choice for the Riddler, to boot. (Though I can see how he might be considered for the Penguin.) Dump him and get someone actually decent.

He's a 2 time oscar nominee... also, he's not fat any more, so not sure I see him as penguin, if you're thinking Tim burton penguin.

Don't see how you have to be fat to be Penguin. It's certainly a better fit for his simplistic acting than the Riddler, though even then I'd much prefer he be neither. And other terrible actors have been nominated, too.

Well, the original concept was that the Penguin was a short, rotund, long-nosed, waddling man in a tuxedo, so that he had a penguinlike appearance and seemed far more comical and harmless than the keen criminal mastermind he truly was. The character was inspired by the penguin mascot in a series of cigarette advertisements, IIRC.
