My only quibble with the book is the Klingon transport, carrying 3000+ people, buzzing the Earther colony on Gamma Tauri IV, then landing.
I'm unaware of any Star Trek vessel, canon or otherwise, with the capacity to carry so many, and maneuver in atmosphere. Three hundred would have been more believable.
But it would have kept your numbers low.
