Patriotism isn't a good thing
My point is that Canada has an inferiority complex in relation to the US, and I don't think we need to. I love my country!
I love Canada too, but why are we slipping into "tell-everyone-else-in-the-world-that-our-country-is-the-best-at-everything" routine? That's not necessary. Incessantly boasting that you are the best "something" in the world to others is arrogant, plain and simple.
I haven't really noticed this. CTV is sort of obnoxious, but I feel that's more in regards to them feeling awesome about themselves as a network rather than being Canadian. Own the Podium is a stupidly named program that's received just criticism, but a lot of the people--Canadians--I've chatted with aren't even aware of its existence, so I don't know if I could say that they're really in the public's face.
As for bragging, I haven't noticed much more than what any other country would do, and has the right to do if they win gold in the Olympics. I mean, that's why every non-Canadian win in any international hockey tournament hurts so much. It's "our" sport and we're not the best at it this go-around.

My wife may have jinxed the US. She got out of bed this morning, and put on and old beatup sweatshirt she wears around the house. This big red hooded fleece that says Sioux Narrows Canada on it with a big honking maple leaf embroidered on the chest.

This is kind of interesting... apparently the "USA chant" originated at the 1980 winter olympics. Don't know if this is common knowledge or what.

So Psyched for the Hockey game today. No matter who wins, I think it's going to be an Amazing Hockey game, and it's going to be live. So glad it's going to be live, which is sad because it should always be live. 2.5 hours to go.

"Calm before the storm"? Traditionally the 50km is the most prestigious event of the Olympics.
Since 1998, the most prestigious event of the Winter Olympics is none other than what will transpire in less than two hours' time. 
I know this calm before the storm is meant to be the winter equivalent of the marathon, but professional hockey players have raised the profile of men's hockey in the Olympics.

No, I think the ice hockey will be pretty fucking important for the Russians too, regardless of what the NHL does.
The US team appears more dangerous to me so far.
