Saucer experiment for the Excelsior class. This is based on the NX-2000 version but uses a traditional TMP bridge dome. That may change when it comes time to do the Excelsior herself...

You know, ever since I first saw the Curry on DS9 I wondered what it would look like without the lower hull. Your Excel saucer with Connie engines actually comes pretty close to what I'd imagine. Only thing I don't agree with is the placement in time. I wouldn't place it any earlier than 2280, perhaps even push it back another 5 years, to 2285, to coincide with the famous Excelsior debacle.
