Van Halen Returns!

I think Kool and the Gang will be great.

You can't go wrong with this....

I caught a teaser from ADKoT on CSI last night. Helgenberger and Dansen were taking refuge in a strip club, and in the background music I could hear a guitar that was unmistakable. A few seconds later and the DLR vocals started in. Never heard the song before in my life, but the snippet of it sounded pretty good. I had to laugh, when they cut back in from commercial, the next song playing in the background was Tattoo. :techman:

Yeah, I noticed that. the song was barely audible but it was unmistakably Van Halen. Weird that they didn't make it more prominent on the soundtrack.

^

Either I had the TV too loud, or I'm hyper sensitive to Van Halen. But seriously, I could hear it just fine. Sounded pretty good. I find myself actually looking forward to the release.

^ Now that one is seriously old school VH. And the bassline, holy shit.

If I had any doubt about getting the album, it's gone now.

Sammy Hagar continues to winge on about most or all of the tracks being recycled old material. Story.

If it's all this good, who cares? Though, if there's a follow up album, they might have to write some new stuff.

The only one I'd ever heard before was She's The Woman.

Holy SHIT! Found the teaser for Your and Your Blues a little bit ago. Then I came upon this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBKY8juEPVc

I haven't gotten pumped up for an album drop in a looooong time. A Different Kind of Truth has changed all of that.

Five more days! WooHoo!

I hadn't heard this one yet.

This album looks to be chock-full of juicy rock goodness!

:techman:

Got my tickets for early June. With Roger Waters in May, and Rush sometime this year (probably fall), it will be a rocking 2012!

Sammy's been bitching for years about how VH aren't recording, and now that they have, he's bitching about how the material is 'recycled.'

If the songs are good, who cares if it's old and (mostly) unheard material?

Sammy needs to take the high road on this one. He's one of the few people in the VH 'family' that isn't a total nut job, so he needs to knock it off.

This sounds better than anything they've done since For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. I'm also starting to look forward to this album - and my initial response was total facepalm stuff.

Very nice concert schedule. :techman:

Kirby, I agree. Sammy should just STFU. I like him, but he's coming off as petty.

CD, agreed. ADKoT is sounding more true to their roots than much of the later Sammy stuff. Not that the later stuff was bad, just that the new songs are sounding that good.

EiG. I'm thinkin' the same thing.

On the other hand, Sammy has also said he'd open for VH for free, so, maybe he's getting a little schizoid.

My Birthday came early. Click the link I posted upthread (#68) and let it play through. Then put your mouse over some of the next selections. You can find at least 5 more full length tracks. DAY-UM! Vintage Van Halen is back and fresh again! And to those who question if Wolfie has the chops.....check out some of the harmonies. Mike Anthony who? (still love Mike Anthony though). Just wow. Soooo looking forward to paying my hard earned money to complete my Van Halen collection with this one. :techman:

Holy crap...how about Outta Space...

Consider yourself rocked.

^ On that one, I can definitely hear what Sammy was talkin' about. I'd been listening to the 1978 demo recently and Outta Space sounds real familiar.

Let's Get Rockin (maybe the only other "Zero" track they didn't record somewhere else (til now ;))).

Maybe the reason this album sounds so good & vintage is because it is. What if they can't write anything that sounds this classic any more?

That may be. We won't know unless they make another album sometime in the future.

But for right now, this really kicks ass. I think they've really done well here. Better than I expected, to be honest. I don't care when the songs were written. They were recorded now. That's good enough for me.

JMHO
