I've being following the game for a while now, it looks pretty good but I've seen very little buzz around it. Am I inevitably in for a disappointment? Anyone else following it?

I'm quite interested (though PC). It sounds like it is going to be good, though a bit different from the only Don'tNod game I've played. (Might try Remember me at some point though)
I have been playing it and I really like it. If you think you can just run through it then think again. You have to make all sorts of decisions and for a better playing experience you have to talk to everyone for hints. So far I have chose to only kill the vampire hunters after me. I've had only one "Boss fight" but the guy was pretty easy to kill with the basic weapons I have. My only "quibble" is not knowing how to do things. I had to search the internet to learn to equip guns and the side quest missions are kind of confusing such as: SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER:
A patient in the hospital thinks she is a vampire and thinks people are after her and asks you to help her with these people, well I am trying to figure out how to open that quest and find the location where these people are. She mentions a garden outside the hospital, but so far I am clueless about where to go.

Loving this so far. It's much more narrative driven, and you spend a lot of time in dialogue. I love the fact that you can lose out on some dialogue options and hints if you push too hard or too fast, without the proper hints in play. It really makes your choices feel weighty. Not to mention the thirst mechanic. I'm literally wandering around to trying to figure out who might be the most expendable person in a given district if I need an XP boost. I've kept Reid's hunger in check thus far, but it's still early game.
Go into the menu, and find your investigations tab. There should be a portrait of Thelma (the girl who gave you the quest), and a question mark. If you roll over the question, it gives you the option to pin the quest to your compass and leads you into the vicinity of where to go.
Silly me, I missed examining the body the first time through the morgue, and now I have to fight my way back through it if I want to finish that sidequest. Only problem? The place is crawling with higher level Skals now! Might have to suck it up and eat somebody if I want to survive it.

I'm enjoying it, it's a lot more fun once you start 'mesmorising' people, I was trying to avoid it at first but I needed to level up.
