Vampire Diaries is.....

.....actually a pretty darn good show all things considered. It's fairly dark for network tv and I think they have done a really good job with the conflict between the brothers and their history. Is it the best show on tv? No,most certainly not. Is it an entertaining hour of tv each week? I certainly think so.

I suggest some of the skeptics here give it a shot.

I'm amused by the cock-blocking Damien does, it's like he actually has a homosexual fixation on his own brother and can't stand to see him with a female.

Also, some hawt chicks on the show. Funny, the show was dragging until last night. I think it may have been the first episode where DEAD PARENTS weren't mentioned.

Yeah.. the women are easy on the eyes. The lead female is quite beautiful. The others are pretty decent too but the lead stands out beauty wise. Last nights episode was pretty good.. I imagine there is going to be a lot more to reveal about what happened between the brothers and the girl they both loved in the past. (trying to be non spolier)

I have to admit I'm quite surprised by how much I'm enjoying the show. I was worried it was gonna be another Twilight, but it's actually pretty darn good.

And yeah, Nina Dobrev is absolutely stunning.

I have no interest in vampires, but I tuned into the first episode because of Nina Dobrev. After that, I actually forgot the show existed.

Perhaps better than it has any right to be. There is some surprisingly dark moments in the show, and Damian makes for a pretty good villain. Most of the girls are pretty easy on the eyes too.

I don't care for the casual teen drug and alcohol use those. I think the blase approach to it sends the wrong message.

Problem with me and Vampire Diaries is I'm tired of all these teen vampire things - shows, movies, books - all cashing in on Twilight, which I didn't care for that much, either. So I'm not so much a skeptic as I'm in the "oh no, not another one" category. I'd probably be more interested in seeing a revival of Moonlight or Angel, which is more of the same but at least doesn't appear to cover the same ground Stephanie Meyers and a million other authors haven't tread into ruts over the past few years.

I was wavering a bit on the show, but I thought last week's episode was a good comeback. I do wish they would incorporate more family history (flashbacks) into the storylines.

I'll keep watching for now.

I quit after the pilot. Actually I quit during the pilot but I couldn't be bothered getting up and turning my tv off.

'Need a remote.

The show is getting better. I thought TVD books were written before Twilight???

You're thinking about True Blood.

The Vampire Diaries is a young adult horror series of novels written by the NYT Bestselling author of the Night World series, L. J. Smith. The story centers around Elena Gilbert, a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers. The series was originally a trilogy published in 1991. However, pressure from readers led the author to write a fourth volume, Dark Reunion, released in 1992.[1]
After taking a hiatus from writing for several years, L. J. Smith announced in 1998 a new spin-off trilogy entitled The Vampire Diaries: The Return, continuing the series, with Damon being the main protagonist. The first installment, The Return: Nightfall, was released on February 10, 2001. The Return: Shadow Souls and The Return: Midnight are tentatively slated for release in April, 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Twilight is the debut, young-adult vampire-romance novel[3][4] by author Stephenie Meyer. Twilight was initially rejected by 14 agents,[5] but became an instant bestseller when published originally in hardback in 2005, debuting at #5 on the New York Times Best Seller list within a month of its release[6] and later peaking at #1.[7] That same year, Twilight was named one of Publishers Weekly's Best Children's Books of 2005.[8] The novel was also the biggest selling book of 2008[9] and, to date, has sold 17 million copies around the globe, spent over 91 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list,[10] and been translated into 37 different languages.[11]
It is the first book of the Twilight series, and introduces seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan, who moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. The novel is followed by New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. A film adaptation of Twilight was released in 2008. It was a commercial success, grossing more than $382 million worldwide[12] and an additional $157 million from North American DVD sales, as of July 2009.[13]

From wikipedia.

TVD was before Twilight, right?
