The Valkyrie is an idea that I've had for a long time. In fact, she is the first ship that I conceptualized.

The idea of this ship is to combine most of my favorite Star Fleet design elements into one ship. She also uses the basic form of the Nova class, which I love, because she has an aggressive look to her, but I didn't like the way that the top of the forward hull curves down. I have felt for quite some time that the Nova's form would lend well to a warship (which makes sense, given what the Nova's pathfinder was originally designed for). I visualize the Valkyrie's dorsal forward hull curves down more gently, like the Sovereign. She also incorporates some design aspects of the Sovereign, and she might end up incorporating some of the Prometheus's design aspects into the primary hull, or have a primary hull somewhere between the Nova and Prometheus in hull curvature. The reason that I chose the name Valkyrie was because I think that it sounds beautiful, and the Valkyrie is designed to reflect this by sleek and aesthetically pleasing.
The Valkyrie is meant to be one hot tomalley, one of the vessels made in response to recent threats, namely the Borg invasion of the earlier 2380's. I imagine her being about the same size as a Luna class, and she carries many torpedo launchers and even some pulse phasers. A single one alone might not be able to destroy a threat such as a Borg cube, but a she is designed so that a group of them has the combined firepower to do so (especially with transphasic torpedoes
). She is meant to destroy enemies, and look good while doing so.
I have many more views in progress, but have been struggling to find the time to finish and post them. I intend to make an update soon.
