Valentine's Day plans?

I am going to watch GI Joe cartoons (I just bought the rest of season 1) and get smash drunk. I may even break open the box of candy I bought at the grocery store today. No one else was going to buy me any...

And on Monday I will be calling Kestra for help finding the nearest AA meeting.

I've actually been to one! It was quite interesting. I'm doing a paper on AA but I met some nice people there and in a way I feel bad that I won't be going back.

Yes folks, I'm taking an addiction studies class and I have several papers due at the end of the quarter, so that's what the research is for. Although I have to say, the class has probably altered my own drinking habits considerably!

^ Actually I have been to several meetings... but not for myself. I went with a friend who really needed to go. And I have to agree. Just being in one will change how you look at your own drinking habits. Out of fear, I limit myself to one or two now. I do allow a binge on special occasions.

My hangovers are too terrible for me to ever become an alcoholic. If I'm gonna drink, I need to know it's gonna be worth the next morning's pain.

I'll be in front of my computer, surrounded by books on alcoholism. And maybe a glass of wine.

I am a recovering alcoholic. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer -- especially because one AA chapter is not at all indicative of other chapters. The meetings are what their attendees make them.

That was always a problem for me... but for the opposite reasons. I never get a hangover, unless I mix beer and liquor. Basically I had no consequences so it has always been easy for me.

But enough about alcohol. What are the rest of you doing on the 14th?

I am considering going to Fannie May and buying a large box of chocolates to eat all by myself.

My wife is moving out to take a job 90 miles away, so ... yeah.

A Gallup poll shows that 81 % of Danes vote nay on the whole thing: apparently no one likes letting a marketing concept dictate something considered this personal (according to consume- and 'hygge'-scientist Jeppe Trolle)

A historian (and USA expert), Niels Arne Sørensen, believes that the well established American tradition doesn't have a foot to stand on here -even though retailers have been trying to push it for years.

So, erhm, I have no plans for this American holiday either...

Seeing as I've had a girlfriend during one of the many Valentine's days in my life, I really don't care that much. I bought one of those heart shaped candy boxes with jelly hearst in it. I'll probably eat those.

Nothing since i've had my dad visiting me and extending his visit that wasn't planned.

If he was already gone by this weekend i'd probably been visited by my best female friend which somehow is odd because quite some time i told her i have a crush on her and if there could be something more than friendship between us but she said she doesn't feel like that.

Now everything is smoothed over and we remained friends (often enough friendships get a crack when someone falls for the other and not vice versa) but some time ago she started teasing me sexually when we chat (text.. not videos you pervs! ;)) and so on which could either be just friendly banter between very close friends or something else.

Now she said she would have visited me for Valentines Day, i.e. over the weekend if i had been by myself and i don't know where to put that because i always thought Valentines Day is for lovers and couples and not simple friends:confused:

Well it's v day now in australia. Tonight my housemate and her girlfriend are off on some riverboat cruise thingy so i have the house to my single self. I'm thinking battlestar galactica or Avatar marathon with pasta for dinner and some chocolate for desert.

Well, since the target of my affections is out of town, nothing. I may hang out with my best friend though, mope about being single, and recap our recent trip to Philly. Or, since I just go back from said trip...I could sleep. I'm leaning towards the second option.
