At this rate, the original mini series is destined to remain the best V ever produced. This show is missing the sense of hopelessness and desperation that the mini series was able to convey. I'm semi starting to wish they had just done a reboot with the same characters. I'm not at the point of caring about what happens to these characters yet.

Above Average

As others have said above, the only weak link is the kid. I'm just hoping his alien girlfriend eats him next episode.

Great, it start to REALLY get good when the mini is 3/4 finished.

I'm guessing we'll get to see the brainwashing tech they used on the widower in the next episode.

I did like how there are differences in attitudes among the Antagonist Vs: Brilliantly cold and political Anna, the more "Gestapo" type Marcus who, and the malicious Dale who now has a scar of evil.

Chad reports on 100 diplomatic visas issued to the first wave of American Visitors, with Anna getting the 1st, however there are some opposition against this decision. Erica is assigned to protect the V's from death threats with her paired with a V officer.

Where's Right Hand Lizard and FBI Infiltrator Lizard? They need more love.

^And why is irrelevant non-entity girlfriend there?

Man, next week is the fall finale? Going on 'hiatus'? Does this beat Firefly for fastest cancellation of a genre series?

Episode itself... meh. I'm having a hard time getting into this show. I appreciate that it's trying to keep a steady clip of revelations, trying to mix character and action, but it always seems to fall flat, mostly because it is trying to clothe itself as intrigue but nothing unexpected ever happens; apart from Lisa being Anna's daughter, you can usually see the twists coming kilometres away. It's a bit sad when Laura Vandervoort in her underwear winds up being the best scene. I was particularly disappointed with what they did with Wash, having him be all angry-vengeance guy only to have a complete nobody revealed as a Fifth Columnist. I, too, prefer the inter-alien scenes, but mostly because I keep hoping for some complexity and nuance in their politics, plans and motivations; but that, so far, is continuously held in abeyance, if indeed it will ever occur.

Reporter guy is getting on my nerves. Everytime he smiles I think he looks like the lovechild of nuBSG's Apollo and a chipmunk.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I guess I could google it, but what was the reason why the show isn't going to appear again until March? I know it can't be the Olympics because they don't last for 3 months ;)

I'm just not feeling this show. It isn't really bad--just not very involving. I'm tired of tyler and supergirl. Anna is intriguing. Could care less about Morris Chestnut's character.

The plotlines aren't exactly firing on all cylinders.

Is this suppose to be a series or just a limited mini-series? If it is the former I probably won't stick around, if it is the latter I might.

Average.

This is the first episode that I've liked. I thought the pacing wasn't so breakneck, and we learned some things. This show is starting to create its own mythology regarding the Visitors with this reconnected/addiction business. Also, there's now a legendary Fifth Columnist. The Fifth Column seems to be far bigger and more entrenched than what was hinted at or seen in the original. It's good that Ryan got to kick a little bit more tail.

I liked the twist with Dale, though I wish that they hadn't revealed Tudyk so soon so he could stick around. The twist with Anna and Lisa is interesting too. For a minute I thought they were going to do a Diana/Brian thing from the original, but the mother angle is different. Wow, with a mother and daughter like that, I wouldn't mind checking out that hatchery.

One thing that kept bothering me though was why do the Visitors refer to themselves as "Vs" when they are with each other? It would be nice to give them a name. I remember the old school Vs were also called Sirians. Can't remember if that was actually said onscreen or came up in the books though. I found the Sirians name on the internet a while back.

I actually had to stop watching about 30 minutes in because of a problem that I haven't encountered since 1990. Back in 1990, my local broadcaster had a chronic problem with Twin Peaks in which the stereo tracks got messed up and so virtually entire episodes would pass in which only the music soundtrack was audible, not the dialogue. (It actually gave the show a weirder ambiance than usual).

Well that actually happened with tonight's episode on CTV here in Canada. The scene where they chased the assassin played out with only the music audible - and I thought that was the intent. But then it moved on to the scene where the guys in the cafe see the V chick and once again there was no dialogue, just music and sound effects. Pretty weird. But something I thought was fixed years ago. So I guess I'll be seeking out an "alternative viewing arrangement" to see the rest of the episode... :(

I agree. I was really hoping this would be good, but I'm not getting any real "emotion" from this show at all. I actually got a bit bored with this episode.

Average, at best.

Evil space alien lizard Anna is still creepy; she's not staring as much lately, I liked it better when she was. If there is a line of action figures I'm getting an Anna and an Erica.

V the series is getting better, the pacing and Astonishing Revelations impress me. Wash's scenes were neat, especially with the virtual reality part.

Anybody else feel good about John May, Fifth Columnist extraordinaire? Seems like a homage to Supreme Commander John from Classic V.

So Tyler is... "He's the one". What ever does that mean??

^ The one to conceive the Star Child? :p

John May will probably be Marc Singer or Michael Ironside.

Bringing Marc Singer or Michael Ironside on this show would be awesome. I also concur that Tyler is going to be the human contributor to the Star Child.

Maybe this show would be more interesting if Laura Vandervoort walked around in her underwear more often.

Week 1: 14.3 million, 8.5/14
Week 2: 10.7 million, 7.7/11
week 3: 9.26 million, 6.0/9

wonder what the ratings will be when the show disappears for 3 months and comes back again.

Good one. This show is starting to click. Nice that they bothered to give the V's some aspect that isn't just human (even if it's the overused hive-mind notion, or is it more akin to drug addiction?)

That scenario made me wonder...has Anna enslaved an entire species via this hive-mind-drug-addict technology? How do we know she (and her core team) are even the same species as the lizards? Wouldn't that be a kick, the big reveal in the future is that Anna isn't a lizard! :rommie: The lizards aren't even evil - just Anna's previous victims. Maybe she and her gang roam around the galaxy enslaving all the species they meet?

Who is John May? On the assumption that he's already a major character, and is the one "we least suspect," it's gotta be Chad (assuming some sort of amnesia). Chad definitely is going to need some new role to play that isn't just Anna's lapdog and if he rebels too conspicuously, he'll be out on his ear and with the merry band of rebels anyway.

I'm annoyed they killed off Alan Tudyk. Dare I hope it's another fakeout? Then again, a new lizard could clone the same "suit" as Dale had, and Tudyk could easily be back. Or as an ironic long-shot, I suppose Dale could be John May.
I wonder if they have some type of hive consciousness and that almost all the V's we see are actually 'worker bee types' maybe the only real female of their species is Anna and the others are just wearing 'human female costumes' over male lizard skins
When Lisa called Anna "mother," I had to wonder whether that applies to all the V's. Are the ships' captains her harem of mates (I noticed they were all male, or wearing male human skin)? When Marcus inevitably becomes attracted to Erica, will Anna flip out that one of her boytoys has a wandering eye? Can a lizard and a human get into a catfight? :p
The weak link continues to be Erica's son, whose just too damn annoying.

Hopefully Anna's long term plan is to breed him with Lisa, and V's have very nasssty mating habits, along the lines of preying mantises, perhaps?
