USS Valiant (Pre-TOS, Eminiar VII)

I can sympathize on that triple post. Every day at this hour, TrekBBS seems to go haywire...

The Baton Rouge was a starship class that the Goldbergs speculated was the predecessor of Kirk's Constitution when they wrote the Spaceflight Chronology, right about when the first movie premiered. Rick Sternbach did the art. Somewhat surprisingly, the Baton Rouge was specified as having a bigger hull than Kirk's newer ship, even when the trend in real-world warship design has been towards larger ships in a given category. Then again, "leaner and meaner" has always sounded appealing, too...

Here's a site that collates some of those old designs and gives sufficient data on the sources, too:

Yeah... right at 4AM EST... and I always seem to be right in the middle of posting when it does... (extra posts deleted)

And thank you for the link...

Man, I haven't look at my copy of the Spaceflight Chronology in ages.

I'll have to dig it out again.

OK... I remember that one now... thanks again.

I prefer to think of the Valiant as another member of that older class of starship best represented by the unmodified AMT model, ala the USS Constellation NCC-1017.

Along with those two, I include the USS Republic NCC-1371 and the USS Yamato NCC-1305. :D
