USS Soryu datasheets WIP

Not a big fan in general of carriers in the Trek universe. But this just screams funcionality to me, and that makes it awesome!

btw, they're set up to print 11x17 fit-to-page, in which case they'll be to 1/1000 scale. They'll be a bit lo-res, tho, as a piracy precaution.

I don't mind the idea of carriers in the trek universe if they're rescue-type ships rather than fighter carriers. I can see cases where transporters wouldn't be possible and shuttles (lots of them) would need to be used. This ship would be perfect for that.

Yep, I put out a book, but this site doesn't allow self-advertising. So I made it my avatar and put a link in my sig, and crossed my fingers.

The above datasheets are not in it, but it's the same kind of art - the book is a collection of two-page spreads featuring my kitbashes: left page has an in-universe description and a bunch of in-action photos like on my website. Right page is diagrams like the above, but, ya know, small and on one page.

Ten years in the making! Literally!

Scott Bell's Starship Dynamics datasheet packs is what got me inspired to do the sheets in the OP. Not entirely sure how I'd get such a thing printed and marketed, though - Lulu.com handles the book entirely, but they don't have a print option for 11x17 sheet packages.

I agree, your book looks awesome, @Forbin. And kudos for finishing it after all those year. But do you ever fear running into copyright problems with CBS?

No more than Jackill, Mastercom Datacenter, Starship Dynamics, et al. They're still around. Or all my garage industry friends who sell resin starship models.
There's a disclaimer on it saying it's not authorized by CBS/Paramount, which is what the other folks do. All the ships are my own bashes, not anything screen-used. Fingers crossed that's enough.

Although, I still haven't gotten the nerve to use Lulu's option of letting the sell it thru Amazon. I'll sell more, but THAT might draw unwanted attention. On the other hand, Starship Dynamics has their own Amazon page! I'll see. I've sold 50 units in three months - not exactly astounding, but I hope at least all my online freinds got one.

As long as you are aware of the risks involved … Love your kitbashes and artwork, of course, and your book looks awesome. But I think you must be really careful with the use of things like the Starfleet delta, for example. Or the word “Starfleet” itself. Because I'm sure they have copyrighted all of that and could come down hard on you if they'd notice. And I'm sure you are aware that “The others are doing it as well” is not a valid argument in cases like these …
