USS Enterprise-1/1000 scale build

I see you got some silvering in the decals. I have yet to see one of these where the decals looked quite right. Even on my builds of it.

Don't misread me, this is easily the best buiild up of this kit I've ever seen. I was curious to your approach to the markings, but i guess it just proves the decals are a bit wonky as manufactured by PL.

Gorgeous work, though. Like I said, best one I've seen to date.

Yes. You know I thought I took such care too with those decals applying 2 coats of Glosscote followed by more Glosscote after applying them yet some silvering still ocurred-chiefly on the underside of the saucer and, to a lesser extent, a couple of the ones on the rim. I found this could be masked by drybrushing some of the basecoat on top of the decal being careful not to paint over the windows but that has it's own issues. I think part of the problem was the decals were old and tended to break apart after soaking so I brushed on some liquid decal film to strengthen them. This worked but also made the decals slightly thicker making it tricky to get the film to look invisible.

Well I'm pleaased to report that after brushing on another coat of Floquil Flat the silvering on the under saucer decals is no longer an issue. This finish is as dead flat as any I've ever seen and the silvering is no more.
