USS Defiant, NCC-1764-A

Hmm... I wonder, since you've done the TOS Constitution, would you be up for doing Judexavier's Cruzan class?

It'd be cool to see it next to the Metaluna, as well as in comparison with the Constitution - I really like the idea of a smaller-sized ship that still features the same hull geometry as the Constitution class. :)

Well, this is ALL, um, VERY interesting (yawn), but I recently downloaded Google SketchUp, and have been watching the videos, and TONIGHT, I will be making...

Wait for it....

Sweet anticipation....

A CHAIR!

Point taken.

I did like that little ship... I might get around to messing with it someday. At this point, my TOS Enterprise has taken much more time that I originally thought. Though, that might be due to all these interruptions, you know, like work. :)

Bah! Stupid chair.

It ended up looking like an old gas station that was converted into an art gallery by burnt-out hippies strung out on strong weed they didn't know was laced with LSD. (Or LDS.)

So, I tossed off a quick pencil & paper sketch of the Metaluna-D and went to bed.

Well that's just slick...my first impression was perhaps the elusive-not-yet-realized Abrams Nu-ED...
Nice.

Hmmm, the Metaluna-D has possibilities...

(If I like where this bad girl is going, I will pull it off this thread and put 'er on her own!)

This thread is great. Fantastic work, as always, MadMan.

Wow, that first ship is also awesome. I could totally buy that has the hero ship in a series. Where did it come from?

It's the Metaluna, designed by the Judexavier, and yes, it's awesome - check it out in this thread:

You'll also see MadMan's spiffy model that he rustled up - it's a beauty. Great to see a cool design fleshed out like that - that's one of the great things about these boards. :)

Glad you guys are having fun. :)

For some reason, the combination of 'Kirk', 'ass' and 'chair' in the same sentence conjured up that image in my mind. That's probably a damning statement about my lack of maturity, and I should really sort my life out - I've been told as much on several occasions (but it's so frickin' fun, darnit!!)... ;)

<Ahem!> We now return you to your regular broadcast - nothing to see here, folks...

Thanks. :) Yeah, that first ship is the Metaluna... Judexavier outdid himself with that one. It was the most fun model I've built in quite a while. :)

Glad you guys like it. :)

I'll have to see if I can get it moving around, a little. :)

You mean animation? That would be awesome...

(P.S. I'm still working on those orthos :) Life ,work, death and taxes seem to interrupt things way too much...)

How's your latest TOS-E coming along? Have you had any notion to put your own spin on it, along the lines of Vector/DEG/anyone-else-I'm-leaving-out..? THAT would be a great thread :)

Just found another conversion of this on Deviantart:

http://karanua.deviantart.com/art/Defiant-A-Setup-162482413

This one looks particularly nice, IMO - the hull seems 'greyer' here, giving it a more TOS-y look, as opposed to the whiter TMP-style colours of Dave Metlesits' version. It's really cool that it works in both ways, considering how it's got that blend of both visual styles. :)

As for animation - wow. Seriously, just... wow. That might be too awesome for my poor, frail, mortal form to handle...

...not that it's going to stop me taking a look, mind! ;)

That one severly reminds me of Starfleet Battles Now :)
