Oh, it's fine, I was just suggesting an alternative to misspelling Columbia's name for the sake of a rhyme.![]()
And giving it a name of a famous school shooting.

I started my research today for this ship. Trough Google I ended up in this topic, I havent had the time to read the entire thread, but it's good to see peoples opinions, will read it all tonight. As for the Aventine: I'm just waiting for some books to be delivered, so I can read about it and to get a feeling with the ship.
In my opinion the Aventine does not fit such an agressive hot rod design as the SOTL2009 Spirit class is. I created the Spirit as a small experimental ship to test the basics of QSD. The extra canards and the tailfin that house a lot of sensors that are not needed on a normal production ship. Besides... mr. Tuvok would not allow it.
I'm planning to do my version of the Aventine somewhere this winter, using the fall for planning/concepts. One thing that I want to include is something close to a normal saucer.
The Aventine is from the recently released Star Trek: Destiny Book 1: Gods of Night by David Mack. The ship will continue to appear in Books 2 and 3 of the trilogy, as well as the followup by Keith R.A. DeCandido (that's me) called A Singular Destiny early next year.Where did you see a mention of a starship U.S.S. Aventine? In which book?
After reading the extract of Mere Mortals over on Trek Movie.com last night, I've been reworking my designs as Aventine has Type XIII pulse phasers, something which I did not expect and only have the good ol' standard phaser strips along the hull. All I need to do now is find a working scanner so I can share my views on her!
