USB Drive graphics program, opinions

I'm setting up a portable "webdesign" USB-drive for "field work" when I don't have the laptop with me and I need opinions on which would be a better portable graphic program for down and dirty quickie graphics.

-- Gimp feels more natural, coming off Photoshop

-- Paint.Net is good-- I use it from time to time, but I'm not sure it'd make a good piece of "in the field" software.

Anyone got some opinions or recommendations for other software? The only "rule" is it has got to fit on a 2 Gig drive.

You should just start with whatever software you're currently use or like and see how to go about creating a portable installation. Googling "portable [program]" would probably set you on your way.

See I'm comfortable with either or, but Gimp (portable) seems to be the least of a headache to get on a keydrive. I'm just not sure it's really a good "quick knock up" program.

That depends, I use GIMP for just about everything. What kind of stuff will you be doing "quick knock ups" of?

Mainly promo images for print flyers and websites.

Yeah, sure, why not? It's fine for touch-ups, text effects, and there are plugins for various purposes, too--which can be installed just as portably as the app itself.

I keep a portable version of GIMP around, myself!
