Upset at IWC collapse, whales now attacking sailboats

The animal proberly didnt realize what it was hitting it proberly thought it was another sea creature.

Probably, probably, probably! Does it sound like proberly when you say it in your head?

I normally don't correct people on their spelling, because I make spelling and grammar mistakes too, but you've been using proberly so often I felt compelled to say something.

I'll bet the couple in the story made some sort of off-color remark about it the previous time it came up for air, so it decided to give them an old-school whale encounter.
How do you even insult a whale?

“Hey, Fatso! You're as big as a whale!”

“Schmuck, I am a whale!”

Someone desperately needs to turn that picture into an office motivational poster.

In Soviet Russia, whale finds YOU!

The Intrepid was doomed from the start... if it wasn't a whale, then it would have been a Klingon Bird of Prey de-cloaking in front of it...

Well maybe the whale jumped up because it did see a Klingon Bird of Prey, decloaking above the sailboat, just outside the frame.

Oh thankyou for speling that word for me 3 times smiles.

*Sigh*

Do you use Firefox, Angela? If not, I recommend it. If you do, do you ever wonder what all those red dashes underlining half the words in your posts mean?

No l use internet explorer
Because l am at the libary
Do you have a spell check on this site l know the prevous place l was on did.
I have looked here and l cant seem to find it.

You know, I'm so corrupted by the evil of the internet that the thought of suggesting using a dictionary at the library didn't even occur to me.

I actually love her spellings and mispellings. I wouldn't change a thing because her style of writing sets her apart. smiles.

1. She's in Australia.
2. That's just creepy.
3. That isn't her in her avatar.

I thought it colloquial and a little charming. The English language is flexible enough to encompass all kinds of variations and will change without our permission.

Unfortunately enough for even native-speakers many rules will change very soon! That is only one of the reasons I don't worry too much about it - in spite of having earned my degree in English! People can still communicate effectively without adhering to all the rules. Language is only a tool - some people wield it more effectively than others but that does not make them better people - perhaps just better communicators!

Languages are always in a state of flux. There are no "fixed rules", just conventions that are supported by consensus. I am far from a grammar Nazi, but at the same time to "break the rules" you must at least be aware of them. Having a idiosyncratic style of writing is not a problem, but when it hampers your ability to be understood clearly and efficiently, people should think if there is something they can do to improve.

Wow. You only spent hours learning verbs and spelling and you use them better than the native English speaker in question!
Well, hours as in thousands of them. :p

But honestly, it's not a matter of some misspellings here and there. I am hardly in the position of criticizing anyone's grammar and spelling. And I'm sure most people here know the language a lot better than I do. What I find annoying is the apparent laziness of not even trying to spell correctly, leaving to the reader the job of deciphering your sentences. I'd argue it's a bit disrespectful, both the reader and to the people that spent a lot of time and effort to learn the language properly.
