Valve really goes above and beyond what most other game companies would do.
Team fortress 2 has already been out for what, 2-3 years? Yet they're still regularly releasing updates of big additions to the game that constantly refresh the gameplay.
The teaser began a few days ago with the release of this comic
http://www.teamfortress.com/war/administrator/
(Note: the art design of the "administrator" woman was directly taken from a fanart interpretation of what that voice might look like. It's cool that Valve involved the community in the making of the game.)
Then a day later:
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=3225
(Valve's letting the community decide which class will receive the next weapon update -- the class with the most ingame kills in the next few weeks reigns supreme!)
Kill totals for day 1:

And to top it all off, another update came out today with the announcement of a new feature for the game: CRAFTING!
(also included is a new comic that hints at what else is to come in the future):

And all of this is only the latest in TF2 updates -- the game has been added on to significantly since its initial release. The great thing about all this is that all these updates have been for free -- had this been EA or Microsoft, we would probably have been charged an extortive amt of cash by this time.
