upcoming team fortress 2 updates -- amazing

Valve really goes above and beyond what most other game companies would do.

Team fortress 2 has already been out for what, 2-3 years? Yet they're still regularly releasing updates of big additions to the game that constantly refresh the gameplay.

The teaser began a few days ago with the release of this comic

(Note: the art design of the "administrator" woman was directly taken from a fanart interpretation of what that voice might look like. It's cool that Valve involved the community in the making of the game.)

Then a day later:

(Valve's letting the community decide which class will receive the next weapon update -- the class with the most ingame kills in the next few weeks reigns supreme!)

And to top it all off, another update came out today with the announcement of a new feature for the game: CRAFTING!

(also included is a new comic that hints at what else is to come in the future):

And all of this is only the latest in TF2 updates -- the game has been added on to significantly since its initial release. The great thing about all this is that all these updates have been for free -- had this been EA or Microsoft, we would probably have been charged an extortive amt of cash by this time.

I haven't gotten much of chance to play TF2 lately but these new updates look great. It's pretty cool how the Demo's unlockable weapons make some pretty major changes for the class much like the huntsman did for the sniper.

I can't wait to see what else this update brings, I eagerly refresh the TF2 blog every night until the updates are posted.

People actually paying $10 for map packs for other games don't know how badly they're being ripped off.

That's the PC business - long tail. Which is why people were freaked out by the whole L4D2 thing.

I can't wait to try out the Soldier's Direct Hit. I main the Solider, so I'm pretty good with the rocket launcher. The extra damage and speed is going to be fantastic.

I'm a better demo then I am a Soldier but this is almost worth trying more with him for the Direct Hit.

Love the entire idea btw! :D

I've been playing TF2 since late November 2007. I used to play at least an hour a night for the first year or so and loved it. Now with me working full time and going to college full time I don't have as much free time but it's always great fun to play and logging on for the first time in a month or two to find something new is always a joy. I can't say how impressed I am with how Valve is handling this game. If only they'd do the same for CS:S, DOD:S, etc.

This war looks interesting. I might have to play some TF2 tonight. :P
