Upcoming DS9 anniversary segment in the magazine

I'm jumping the gun way too soon with this, but I just noticed that in the TNG anniversary issue that a DS9 15th anniversary issue will be out early next year. Will this be all new material or will it incorporate information from the special DS9 issue the UK had last year? That was the one before the magazine started being released in America and featured Mr. Mack talking about Warpath.

^ It'll have new material.

That reminds me -- I should probably, y'know, write that article...... :D

You guys are writting stuff for that issue? Sweet, I'll deffinitely have to try to remember to pick it up. (He says realizing the chances of that are almost nil.)

Oh, are those articles due already? Guess I'd better get cracking as well...

Hah, I'm ahead of the lot of you. I'm halfway through mine already. :p

I would have loved to have written something for this, because my first professional Star Trek writing credits were for episodes of Deep Space Nine. Unfortunately, I had to decline the invitation because I just don't have the time -- between working my day job, writing the trilogy, and now getting a deal for my original novel, my calendar is going to be quite full for many months to come.

Congratulations on your deal, David! Do you have a title, projected release date, or any other information you can share about the project?

Are you guys each writting different articles, or is it one big article you're all contributing too?

The title is The Calling; it's a modern-day fantasy-thriller. And that is absolutely all I can say about it at this time.

Me too... I would've liked to pitch an idea (since it would've been a chance to break into magazine writing), but my schedule has just been too tight to allow it. Hopefully I'll get another chance.

And you got that deal for your original novel? Congratulations!

^ Thanks! I hope to be able to say more about it once the contracts are final, maybe in a month or two.

Different articles.

*briefly debates giving DRG grief about the 1K word count*

*decides he's on the other coast, so what the hell*

You can do it, David. We are all supporting you on this. I know bringing something in that short is a challenge when you're used to loooooooooong work (being used to writing looooooooooong stories myself), but if anyone can do it, you can.

*g, d, rlh*

I'm going to wait till after the deadline and then use an Orb of the Prophets to go back in time and write it before any of you.

Mwahahaha.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll have you know that Star Trek--The Magazine actually invited me to pen another article a couple of months ago, with a word count of 1,500 to 2,000, and I pulled that off without a problem.

(Okay, yes, I admit that the final word count was precisely 2,000, but still...)
