Unseen adventures that tease us

Worf2DS9

Occasionally in Doctor Who someone will mention an adventure they had which we never saw, letting our imaginations go wild as we wonder what that adventure was all about. How many can you think of? Which of these adventures intrigue you the most?

I'll start off with one I just came across whilst watching "Bad Wolf". The Doctor recalls that just before he was transmatted into the Big Brother house, he, Rose and Captain Jack were in Kyoto, Japan in 1336 and had just escaped. Escaped from what? What were they doing there? And who or what were they escaping from? Kensei? Hiro Nakamura? :D

I want to see a past-Doctor's trip to the weapons factories of Vyllangard (sp?) where he got a (the original?) Sonic Screwdriver, and left the planet a banana grove (cause bananas are f***ing good!)...I wanna see that one. Preferably with either a young 1st Doctor or, for some odd spontaneous reason, Sylvester McCoy's 7th Doctor tearing it up. That would be a cool story to see... :techman:

But, wasn't that the inference? He had been there. "Once." Give they were making weapons-grade sonic tech, I would think that's where he got his screwdriver (or at least one of the three) or perhaps the parts to assemble it, even? You could be right. I just always read it that way. Also, gives the origin of the(a) Sonic Screwdriver a little unique flavor...

I would like to see the Third Doctor and Jo Grant's trip to Karfel that was mentioned in Timelash.

This story makes reference to a previously unseen adventure where the Third Doctor, Jo Grant and an unnamed second companion visited Karfel. This adventure has yet to appear in any of the spin-off media although the Virgin Missing Adventures novel Speed of Flight by Paul Leonard mentions that the Third Doctor and his companions, Jo Grant and Mike Yates, are on their way to Karfel at the start of that particular story.

There's always the adventure the Tenth Doctor and Martha were on during "Blink", with the bows and the "four things... and a lizard"!

I'm kind of surprised the thread has gotten this far and no mention of the Time War yet.

I've always liked to think that The Doctor and Romana had adventures together for a few years, both of them being Time Lords and all.

Also, what about those planets that were visited and nothing nasty or adventury happened at all....

Obviously we don't get to see it because of the Not Drama. "This week - shopping! Relaxation! Having A Quiet Drink And A Nice Meal!"

The one where Ten is trying to save Charlemagne from an insane computer.

It's not a missing adventure, per se, but I wanna see what he really got up to with Madame du Pompadour while Rose and Mickey were unconscious... :p

I think it was stated, in 'Fury From The Deep', that the Doctor invented the sonic screwdriver. Of course, he may have got the idea after going to Vyllangard. But there's no evidence for that.

I'm curious as to the Doctor's encounter with the 'Terrible Zodin'.

His "first" meeting with Queen Elizabeth. At the end of The Shakespeare Code, she remembers having met him and wants him dead. From his perspective, he hasn't met her yet. It's gotta be Ten that she's met, since she wouldn't have recognized another regeneration. I want to see that, what he did to get her so riled up.

You know, I have always wanted to have a "non"-episode of Doctor Who. Just one, where nothing dramatic happens as far as external conflict and all. I think that would be a great change for a show. And, like, The Doctor could just be waiting for something horrible to befall them at any moment, the entire episode. But, nothing ever does... ;)

Ah, okay, fair enough! I knew he had built his own when Ten came out with a new one in Smith & Jones. But, I was never sure about the original one (i.e. the one Troughton first whips out). Still, I would love to see a 7th Doctor/Ace adventure with them trashing the weapons factories, and him acquiring the screwdriver we see him using in the '96 TVM. I would imagine McGann built/rebuilt the one Eccleston/Tennant use during The Time War. It seems to be far more powerful than the original models, and war has a tendency to push technological achievement.

Ah, you know, it's fun to theorize. :techman:

While one half of me agrees with you, it would seem almost a shame to invalidate the inevitable "legend" that the Zodin comment has become in the past twenty-seven years. It would be almost like showing the adventure where Tom Baker's Doctor inadvertently taints Zoanon (from Leela's homeworld). I remember as a kid, the first time they mention why Baker's face is on that mountain, freaking out because I couldn't figure out why PBS had skipped an episode! "What? When did this happen? Why haven't I seen it?!" ;)

The one where Ten is trying to save Charlemagne from an insane computer.

That was a pretty cool nod. Also, just the context of it has Hartnell/Troughton-era written all over it!

I would loved to have seen the Return of the celestial toymaker that was penned in for season 23, but was dropped when the show returned in favor of the season long Trail of the timelord.

^Wow! Didn't know that. Were they going to get Michael Gough to reprise?

^Yes, they were planning to have him back.

You know, that could be pretty fun. Have him wander round a shopping mall. Suddenly, a shop window dummy moves!. The Doctor sets of the fire alarm to evacuate the building, then spots the shop worker who has been adjusting the display!

Ace: C'mon, the bombs are set. Let's not hang about!

Doctor (examining computer screen): Now that's interesting....they've added a photonic shunt to the sonic disruptors...y'know, I've been meaning to rebuild the sonic screwdriver....

Ace: PROFESSOR! THE BOMBS!!

Ah, you know, it's fun to theorize. :techman:

You don't have to tell me twice!
