Unnatural Selection

A lot of people compared this episode to TOS' Deadly Years, but aside from old age, there isn't much that's similar. After having watched it for the first time in years (and both episodes within the last 24 hrs), I have to say I think its a much better episode. The solution to the problem is more sensible ans less spur of the moment, and there's no Shatner looking pissed off because he's in old age makeup. Anyone else think its better?

I haven't seen Unnatural Selection in maybe 10 years. I can remember very little of it other than the overall plot. I suppose people will compare it with Deadly Years. For me it can never beat Deadly Years since that's been a favorite TOS episode of mine since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Isn't the solution to de-aging Pulaski to use the transporter and a strand of her hair? Do they comment that they need a hair folice to still be on the hair? I can't recall. The scene where Riker is rifling through Pulaski's drawers always makes me vaguely uncomfortable - if I were a lady of Pulaski's age I wouldn't want a young guy rifling through my unmentionables! :guffaw:

The part I didn't understand is when Data did a search for similar incidents the "Deadly Years" incident apparently never came up. Data said he found nothing. Maybe he didn't look hard enough.

And I agree with Picard with his comment opposing Genetic Engineering. I wonder if they ever cured the Adult looking Kids.

I always liked Unnatural Selection, and thought the episode got a bum wrap because of the aging issue. But, by that reasoning, any western that featured a horse was a ripoff of The Great Train Robbery.
