Universe Characters Revealed?

Having said that this doesn't come from an official source so could it could be all nonsense.
Let's hope. But Mallozzi's comments suggest it's pretty close to real.

Colonel Everett Young
This si the only One I think has any real potential and a chance of being 'different' to what we've already seen a dozen times. Tbh he kind of sounds like Colonel Summoner, which is a good thing - I was sorry they killed him off so soon.

Tamara Jon
Main problem here is this line:
Captain grade. Off world experience. Beautiful, tough, smart, capable.
Hello, Sam Carter. Amanda Tapping finally got too expensive/busy, so we've recast the exact same character in a younger model. Are we ever going to have a female character who isn't "beautiful, tough, smart, capable"? Seeign this young lady becoming the Mary Sue of the show.

Chloe Carpenter

20ish. Stunning and sexy.
Naturally. I really think sometimes the male writing cast think they're writing porn when they do their casting sheets, the way they describe their female characters.

Daughter of a U.S. Senator. Silver spoon upbringing and a little spoiled but not stupid either. Politically and socially savvy. Dreams of following in her father's footsteps but for now she's a bit of a party girl in her first year at an Ivy League school.
So... what is she doing on this spaceship to god-knows-where?

Eli Hitchcock
20-25. Total slacker. Utter genius. Mathematics, computers, anything he puts his mind to. Acerbic sense of humor. A social outcast. Comes from a broken home. Lacks confidence because his true intelligence has never really been recognized
This is horribly cliched, the worst of the bunch, imho. The friendless, dateless geek, whose humour is lost on the others. So we've got Carter and McKay re-cast then.

Lt. Jared Nash
And now we have Lt. Ford again. The poitnless Lietenant with no real roel to fill worked so well on Atlantis we seem to have him again. Look for him to be killed off by the season 2 premiere.

Ron "Psycho" Stasiak
20, all ethnicities. Marine. Big, strong, silent. You want him on your side. You don't want him mad at you. Lacks control over his temper in non combat situations. His past is a mystery but it's clear something dark formed the hard shell around him. Yet, there must also be some moral center because otherwise he'd kill everyone around him. Think Eric Bana's character "Hoot" in Blackhawk Down. SERIES REGULAR.
And now we get Ronan. Again. With Teal'c's past.

Seriosuly, I was really ready to give Universe a chance, but come on people, what are you doing to us?! Out of your regular cast I can spot one character whose not a complete trainwreck right out of the gates/rewrite of an existing and tired character.
Please tell me the real characters are going to be much more sensible and less cliched than they seem on this list. I realise casting sheets never quite capture good characters, but I've found them unnervingly good at capturing bad ones. I remember reading the sheet for Enterprise.

I am going to throw a name out for the 40 year old Colonel, who might make this show watchable, now bare in mind hes not known as a tough guy, but he is a good actor, and could potentially carry the show if all the young kids turn out to be shite.

Mathew Perry.

Be nice but don't think they can afford him somehow.

They wouldn't be able to pay him what he made on the last season of freinds, but then they probably wouldn't have to.

Moving to canada might put him off though.

Good selection on Matthew Perry, but I think Matt LeBlanc may be just as good, plus he's got the military physique and action chops. (He was cool in Lost In Space, even though the movie bleeeeewwwwww)

Please no Friends actors in show, especially that tool David Schwimmer.

Actually I'd love to see Adam Baldwin in the leader role. He did a great job as Col. Dave Dixon in SG-1.

From IMdb Mathew Perry has a new show in the works where hes also a producer, so doubt he would be available for this, I could see LeBlanc working too, although Joey didnt do him any favours, perhaps if it had been more about him and less about all the people around him..

Schwimmer was born to play a Goa'uld.

Perhaps the title of thread should be Universe Characters Reviled
Since Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles looks like it's headed for cancellation territory, Stargate should snap up Brian Austin Greene, who has done a very credible job as a kick-ass soldier. He's only 35 but has the mannerisms of someone who could be older.

Shame that Mark Harmon and Micheal Weatherly are on NCIS. They're basically the evil versions of Jack and Daniel :D

People need to get over this. These characters do sound like a pack of cliches, yes, but not they're not nearly as cliche as folks complaining on an internet forum about something they haven't even seen yet.

Besides, as a guy in my early 20s I wouldn't mind seeing a Stargate show cast with people in my age group. Anyone who objects to this has 15 years of SG-1 and Atlantis to bury themselves in. :)

We're complaining about the cast list. Which we have seen.
