Yep! Time to get out the clippers! There is no United Earth in Star Wars.

If someone can write a star wars or star trek level space opera that negates the United Earth trope in total I will eat my own hair.

You understand what I meant don't you? Every planet and species being politically united? Subverting that trope?Yep! Time to get out the clippers!![]()
Politically united?!? I seem to recall a period of civil war, with Rebel spaceships striking from a hidden base against the evil Galactic Empire....You understand what I meant don't you? Every planet and species being politically united? Subverting that trope?

No species is itself divided into nations
The Mandalorians most certainly are divided, in the Rebels time frame.Yes but the mon calamari, the kaminoans, the Gungans, just about every alien culture, Coruscant and so on are united under planetary governments.

IIRC, the old FASA rpg had the 23rd century Federation possessing approximately 1,500 members, and I don't recall anything about they all having single government planets.Someone needs write a space opera where
a federation esque government has
hundreds upon hundreds of member nations
for each species.
I disagree, the reason sci fi doesn't have that is that it's complex and involved, and having entire species/planets with a single government is easier and simplistic. The reason sci fi doesn't have that is well its ridiculous and bordering on nonsensical.
The Federation goes to war and after a spell a majority of the member worlds decide that the Federation has proven whatever point needs to be made, and there need to be a return to peaceful conditions.US and Russia go to war - some us states and Russian republics declare peace-how on earth do you handle that sort of foreign policy dilemma.
