I still think they should have gone all out and given all the guys goatees, but we only got one. It would have really fit evil Malcolm.

Pffff! Yeah, those female crew members' uniforms look really practical. They'd offer a lot of protection in combat, too.

That's a great expression on Archer's face.

Yeah, that was silly at best. I'd almost say I liked the mirror uniforms save for the female version just can't be taken seriously at all. Why not just issue T'pol and Hoshi a bikini to wear on duty?

As for Mirror Archer... yeah he has that "I hate my parents" look on his face the whole episode. ;)

 Someone should have told the costume designer that sparkly gold sashes do not = evil.

NBC was the "full color network" at the time I believe, ABC and CBS were still in transition. And it was still owned by RCA possibly, and Star Trek often showed up in RCA television set print advertising.

There's definitely a glitch in the Matrix with Kirk entering the room he's already in while Uhura holds a phaser on Klingon Marlena.

Personally, I'd have the male uniform as a loincloth and an endless supply of baby oil :)

Or they could wear those ridiculous man-skirts seen in early episodes of TNG, and later lampooned on Futurama.

Seriously... who thought these were a good idea? More to the point... how'd they get these poor guys to wear these?

What you're wearing right now would look incredibly silly, if not offensive, to someone from 1713.

I like the manskants... they must breathe really well. It's a shame we never saw Picard in one ;)

Getting paid union scale probably gets a lot of them to do things they wouldn't outside the studio. ;)

    HA! That is excellent.

I will never know what the Season 1 costume designers were thinking. Maybe it was in the spirit of gender equality, but come on. Do you see any self-respecting male Starfleet officer wearing that skimpy little number?

I'm more creeped out by the hideous mullet!!!!!

I can imagine for security officer engaged in hand-to-hand combat it would be of great benefit. It gives free, unrestricted range of movement--far better than the spandex bodysuits.

Plus the element of surprise. Who would expect a guy in a miniskirt to kick your butt? :p

The best part of the uniform change in DS9 was when we come face-to-face with Bashir wearing the old uniform and realize that he's been replaced on the station by a changeling.
Haven't seen the episode in years, but wasn't she wearing a backup communicator underneath?
