Unfinished Business after Paradise Lost

Photon

Q1: Like to know more about what happened to Layton
Q2: Little more on Benteen and the Lakota
Q3: The 4 shapeshifter on Earth, were they found? Did they leave?

While not canonly answered there are some noncanon responses.

1.) Leyton was put into prison in the same Penal Colony where Tom Paris was assigned at the beginning of Caretaker. Benjamin Sisko visits him in Hollow Men and tells him about the Romulan decision of ITPM.

2.) Noncanonly Erika Benteen was reduced in rank to Commander and removed from command of the USS Lakota. She was assigned to the USS Appalacia and rose to command of the Steamrunner Class ship after the death of its captain and XO during the Klingon conflict. She was in command during the Battle of Sector 001 in First Contact. She is assumed to have been killed as the Appalacia has a new Captain in its next appearance.

Where's this story?

Other unanswered questions:

-Did the Founders really bomb Antwerp, or did Leyton? The latter had his coup organized in an amazingly short time afterwards - or in fact beforehand, considering he had to get in the agent who made the wormhole hiccup.

-Were there four shapeshifters on Earth, or rather just one or then ninety-eight? "O'Brien" had absolutely no reason to tell the truth there. (The Tales of the Dominion War anthology briefly tells how the last remaining Founder agent tries to evacuate itself from Earth, BTW.)

-Are phaser sweeps effective against Founders, or do they only work against the young Odo?

-Were there Founders involved in Leyton's conspiracy after all? They did eagerly partake in the rather similar conspiracies of Tal'Shiar and Obsidian Order, while claiming that they did not initiate those. It would make great sense for there to be a Founder or three in Starfleet Academy, for example, to help Leyton in thoroughly staining the reputation of that establishment.

-Was old Joe Sisko in fact a Founder, intent on undermining Sisko's effectiveness as a defender of Earth, and preventing the implementation of full security measures? He does spill his blood rather melodramatically, as if to make a point at a crucial moment.

Very good. I thought about the bombing at Antwerp being the work of Leyton's group-that would be interesting. Bombing just doesn't seem to be the Founders MO unless they are bringing division between powers. The bombing didn't do that.

I really like the propostion of Leyton being a Founder or a Founder's agent. THAT would be a "Pandoras Box"

First Contact's novelization mentions Captain Benteen. The reduction in rank comes from the original script for Paradise Lost - but the line was cut from dialogue. It was originally supposed to be said by Odo that "Leyton's supporters have been reduced in rank for their following him."
