"Unexpected"

Must've been. after all, Trip got raped and impregnated by an alien, and everyone thought it was perfectly fine to make fun of him for it, and so many here seem to think it was a laughing matter, so rape must be fun then.

Trip getting raped. T'Pol sexuallly molesting the Ferengi. It seems that most every thread you post in you see the worst and then magnify it beyond belief. Did you watch this series or are you getting your information from the Enterprise bashers over on the official ST website? All of us have episodes we don't like and things about the show we don't like, but you seem to be really fanatic about it. Why? And if you hate Enterprise so much, why waste your time talking about it? Wouldn't life be more enjoyable if you focused on things you like and enjoy?
So he can pimp his own reimagining of the series, of course.

For me "Unexpected" was one of my favorite episodes! It helped define Trip as a character, it showed T'Pol being a bit jealous about Trip's apparent "intimate relations" with Ah'len and it was just plain funny. there were some awesome lines in that episode.

ARCHER: I'd like you to start seeing the Doctor every eight hours. As your delivery date gets closer, he should be able to start figuring out what your postnatal responsibilities might be.
TUCKER: Postnatal responsibilities?
PHLOX: You may very well be putting those nipples to work before you know it.

:guffaw:

It was a humorous ep for me although it was hum dum at the beginning. I like the part where T'Pol couldn't resist adding her barb in on the prospect of Trip getting introduced to holographic parents. I guess that's a sign that Trip got on her hair one too many times. :rommie: And she never let him forget about this incident.

What is the line? T'Pol - "One of the first things a diplomat learns is where not to put your fingers." Something like that. Spock had a sense of humor and it was nice to see that again in a Vulcan.

Quotes from T'Pol. :guffaw:

T'Pol :Three days. You were only there three days and you couldn't restrain yourself.

T'Pol : I imagine that's a question on how you "define" gentleman.

T'Pol :This enginner wanted you to see her planet?

Trip : So?

T'Pol : Perhaps the next step would have been to meet her holographic parents. If I'm not mistaken, on some planets, that's a precursor to marriage.

T'Pol : One of the first things a diplomat learns is not to stick his fingers where they don't belong.

And Trip's expressions were priceless. He knew he's on the short end of the stick and T'Pol's on his case, where could he run? :p

Um...he put his hands in some beads...hardly rape :scream:
It was a reproductive process, and what made it rapes is that he didn't know he was unwittingly taking part in what equated to sex with that alien. If the same had happened to Hoshi.

You throw that word around out of any real context and it weakens the word...which stands for something awful, painful and humiliating.
I know exactly what it means, which is why I think it's deplorable that this episode made it a laughing matter.

Hardly what happened to Trip
I doubt some of you would feel the same way if it had happened to Hoshi or T'Pol.

I'm not magnifying so much as pointing out what is, to me, the obvious. I just don't gloss things over or sugar-coat them.

Did you watch this series
Yes, I can honestly say I have seen each and every episode of ENT. I started watching the last few episodes of S3 when the show was first airing, though Home is the first one I really watched all the way through, and it turned me into a TnT'er. Later I got the DVD sets and watched the whole series from the beginning. I have a review for each and every episode, some of which wouldn't have such high marks if I wrote them now, because to be honest ENT has not aged well for me.

or are you getting your information from the Enterprise bashers
Tsk, tsk, you shouldn't troll someone just because they have a differing opinion about a show.

over on the official ST website?
Never been to that BBS, nor do I ever plan to.

All of us have episodes we don't like and things about the show we don't like,
For me the episodes I like is actually a shorter list now.

but you seem to be really fanatic about it. Why?
Gosh, yes, why would I ever discuss my opinion about an episode when the topic comes up on a discussion board? There's nothing fanatic about it, beyond being a Star Trek fan, that is. Believe it or not, I still list ENT above TNG, VOY, and TOS.

And if you hate Enterprise so much, why waste your time talking about it?
I don't hate the show so much as I'm frustrated by how so many good ideas were ruined in execution or squandered in other ways, and at how some things just plain shouldn't have been done, like bringing the Borg and the Ferengi into the show. Criticism does not necessarily equate to hatred, don't confuse the two. And just because I don't gush for the show doesn't mean I hate it either.

Wouldn't life be more enjoyable if you focused on things you like and enjoy?
If I see a topic about something I did, I'll be sure to say something. But when it comes to issues like how Trip was raped and everyone laughed about it and things I felt were abusive or degrading to a character, I say so.

Apparently some of you need a refresher course on certain sections of the TrekBBS Rules.

Expressing your personal opinion is okay. Insulting people whose opinion differs from yours is not okay. Riling up other posters with your posts is likewise not okay.

Use common sense when you post. People tend to forget this one, I've noticed, in their rush to use their opinion to beat a perceived "opponent" into submission.

If you happen not to like an opinion that has been discussed, you will respond in a civil manner.

There will be NO MORE inflammatory statements such as this

Yes, because rape is fun.
Or snide comebacks like this

That's exactly why I liked it.

Yes. Rape is fun.
or confrontational posts like this

Did you watch this series or are you getting your information from the Enterprise bashers over on the official ST website?
or inappropriate attempts to moderate like this

Tsk, tsk, you shouldn't troll someone just because they have a differing opinion about a show.
or repeating your point over and over ad nauseum, to spammish effect, like this

But when it comes to issues like how Trip was raped
or using eyeroll snideness or thread bomb snarkiness instead of verbal salvos like this

...or the warnings will commence. Clear?

Show some basic common courtesy and tolerance for each other. This is a community, not a WWF ring.
