Ummm.... So, can we get...

Data Holmes

A complete list of all current fan films with links and short descriptions sticked to the top of this forum?

We already have one.

Half the links don't work or are buried deep within the thread.

I'm not talking about a thread, just a single post link, sticked by the mods and locked after the first post so only the mods can access and edit the link list.

Who do you suggest to actually compose such a list? Maintain it so its accurate? Which mod of this forum has volunteered to update said list?

Its easy to make a suggestion like that, but its quite a bit of work you're asking to be done when the info is already there.

How about 2 stickies...

1 that is a "draft" thread, that goes through & marks off dea links and adds new ones...that thread, ANYONE can add to it, and be the person who keeps up posting an up-to-date link.

Then a moderator can cut-and-paste that list onto another thread, as suggested, that is locked, and only accessed by the moderators.

It's needed, because unlike official Trek, it comes from all kinds of sources that we might not all be aware of.

If the moderators are interested enough to moderate, i hope they wouldn't mind at least taking my suggestion of maintaining the "easy to read" list after regularly checking the "draft" message.

I agreed with hutt a while back that it's good idea, both for the forum and for the productions. Unfortunately neither Lord Garth or myself has found the time to do it yet.

Rather than digging through the thread what I may do is start over by asking people to send LG or myself a link and a short description and we'll add it to the list. A single post, locked and pinned thread would be a quick and handy resource. I'd still keep the old thread around, but not pinned.

I'm certainly open to comments or suggestions if anyone has a better idea because as you point out, weeding through the existing thread would be a real undertaking.

Good idea Morpheus. :)

Very good idea. :bolian:

Yeah, the task wouldn't be nearly so daunting now if we had used this scheme from the beginning.

I think of the idea of posters creating a draft thread is good because then you're putting forth what you want and all we have to do is maintain the final version of the thread.

That might've worked for FAQ's too, even though FAQ's should be written so they can avoid becoming dated for as long as possible.

OK, I've got the two threads pinned at the top of the forum. They're likely to be a work in process for the first few days given the volume of initial productions that I expect and the fact that this is holiday weekend here in the States.

Lord Garth and I will do our best to keep up with the submissions, but don't be surprised or disappointed if it takes a day or more to update the master list.

Don't worry. Just do the best you can.
