Who would want the Premiership at the moment?
Didn't Chelsea win this year?
Not going to happen and if it does its a free vote, if MPs want to get back into Parliament they will vote it downThat DUP coallition is going to open so many cans that i don't think May will last 6 months, there is already talk that it cannot happen because it would be against the impartiality clause in the good Friday agreement....then we have ex Tory Mp's stating the abortion laws could head back to the commons.![]()
We need a National Government but their egos are too big to do it and that includes May and Corbyn. If the DUP deal goes well we may see Half a dozen liberal Tory MPs in labour/Tory margins backing a Corbyn queen speech, or at least abstaining. Perhaps the Scottish dozen.
The question is could Corbyn have enough humility to accept he lost, and he needs to compromise.
On the other hand a new Tory leader from the liberal/remain side could also gain vote-by-vote support.
It's time to compromise. May doesn't seem to be able to understand the concept, let alone do it.
SNP and I suspect lib dems would confidence Corbyn no problem. As to the budget, depends what he proposes, but given the alternative I suspect they'll let him fail.
Only concession I could see would be on the brexit negotiation team.
However without DUP actual support (not just abstain) Corbyn' going nowhere.
Maybe if Ruth Davidson formally split from the tories and formed a new party things would change, but look at what happened to the labour MPs who formed the SDP
They need assistance and should get even more assistance rather than welfare and free X for everyone, have welfare for those who need it.^And what happened to social responsibility to look after those who, through no fault of their own, are too sick to work for 40 years paying into the system? Or those who can't afford to rent or buy in the area where they can get work, and therefore end up having to leave the area to somewhere where there isn't work available? They certainly didn't cause wage stagnation or house price inflation. That's down to the generations where they stopped building houses, where they didn't make sure there was enough to pass on to the next generation.
The Welfare state has turned us into a nation of gimme gimme gimme , why on earth should well and mega rich people get free school meals, free prescriptions, free university education? Why not means test all benefits and stop giving people free stuff that is not really free but paid for by taxpayers? The only deserving lot for freeness are the senior citizens who worked for 40 plus years paying into the system.
The irony is if Scotland was independent that oil the SNP were relying on... well....
A universal welfare benefit includes giving from the don't need the money to the mega rich people, whether they take the money or not.Who said anything about mega rich people, i think i can safely say that in Scotland there will be more people in need and greatly thankful for these things, than there will be rich people getting them that do not need them.....or do you personally know a lot of mega rich people that use their free bus pass, or mega families that send their rich children to public schools that get free meals.
Oh, and Scottish also people pay tax, you know, to fund the walfare government that helps to give those in need of help.
^^The welfare state is funded by all, no matter where you are in the UK, as it should be, but punishing those that require it's help by punishing everybody in a blanket attack is not, and should never be a option, those in need cannot be blamed or held to accountable for the incompetence and poor handling of the welfare system, that is why we have a tabloid media who fuel such nonsense that those on welfare are somehow living better life than those that are working, when in fact those working are also having to claim from the welfare system because of a plethroa of inept governments.
And i have no idea why you keep going on about SNP and oil, what relevence does it have to the welfare state and those in need, the Scottish government take part of the tax revenue they put into the pot with the rest of the union and use it to help people in Scotland, i do not see what part of that is somehow negative, should not all government not be doing a similar thing for the people in their country?
The welfare state is funded by all, no matter where you are in the UK,
I hate the term 'welfare state' as it seeps into exactly the kind of negativity the press, and he government, rely on and it filters right down to the people who are supposed to be 'helping' you.
I was on jobseekers for a brief time when the company I worked for went bust I thought that was hell. Move forward a few years and I was dragged kicking and screaming onto ESA where - because of the aura of this 'welfare state' presentation, the wonderful people at the DWP felt it was completely acceptable to lay on massive guilt trips for my brain daring to develop a tumour.
It's a horrible, horrible system and I find is somewhat maddening that we're all conditioned to treat it like a burden. It only got worse when the EU courts found the DWP were acting against peoples basic human rights and protected those people.
I still can't fathom why so many are in support of a government that see's a bottom line and not people.
Everythings negative. Scotlands the enemy again, I've seen it all over the English papers![]()
