Does that say something about how good Home & Away and Neighbours acting talent is, or how cheap they must work?
For reasons of symmetry, I'd like the sweaty CIA boss guy to get killed by a dinosaur -- perhaps Torchwood's missing pterodactyl could oblige.
I don't know, maybe Australians are just better at fitting in in the US than us Brits. I can't name many British soap actors who's made it in the US, of course it could also be down to the fact that there's just not enough work down under?Anyway, episode 3. Really liked it. A touch heavy handed in places, and the souless is a nice idea but will it go anywhere? (and it also felt more than a little remenisant of Flash Forward) Pullman was much better here, though I'm still not quite buying the messiah bits...
Nice to hear mention of Ianto, loved the Tardis joke, and hey the gay sex scene even had a plot point, in fact neither felt that shoehorned in.
I really hope it isn't just about a drug company's profits however!
Oh, and daft question here, but is anyone else noticing some lag at times with the picture? Almost like the frame rate isn't right? I at first thought maybe it was to stretch the episode out to the hour length needed for the beeb, but I can't see how it would claw back enough of the time to do that.
I sincerely hope someone else has noticed this cos otherwise I'm going mad!
I've noticed it too, been watching out for it since someone said the UK Edits in Canada looked that way too. The frame rates are different though, in the US they use 30fps we use 25fps, so in order to convert it they basically pull out every 4th frame (I think) so the UK version is actually 4% shorter than the US version, hence we get an extra long "Next time" bit.
There's tons of Brits working in the US now, in fact one of them, can't remember who, said "British actors are like the Mexicans of Hollywood, they work harder and for less than their American counterparts."
Apparently the "Bigger on the inside" joke was RTDs. I did get a bit sick of the "Brits say... but we say..." stuff. Though it was shocking to discover American lemonade isn't fizzy.

Can't blame you. I see a lot of people who usually bad mouth Torchwood now enjoying it and I kinda think it's a shallow thing of it being more American now, and being American it has to be good, right? Personally I don't think it's great, but I'm continuing to watch for some reason. Bill Pullman doesn't seem very good to me, the tone doesn't quite sit right with me either.
Well it all depends on how it was actually shot, if it was shot at 24 frames per second (fps) than the conversion to PAL rate at 25fps means that it will be 4% shorter than if it was shown in say NTSC format
Thus far, it's not a patch on CoE or series 2. I'm still enjoying it, though. Mainly, it has to be said, because of Gwen.
REALLY couldn't believe Gwen didn't know pants means trousers in the US. she clearly doesn't watch enough US TV.
