we pronounce word wrong all the time it makes it more realistic. i like how on startrek they call sensors sen-SOARS were most people say sensers.

I just figured she pronounced it like that because Zoe Saldana is Dominicana. Speaking as someone who grew up in a Hispanic community, Spanish speakers tend to put strange emphases on certain words.

I don't think she puts a Spanish emphasis on it; in order to have the last syllable in Farragut stressed in Spanish, there would have to be an accent placed over it, as in Calderón. Otherwise, normally it would be mispronounced Cawl-DER-own. Second-to-last syllable stress is normal.

She doesn't mispronounce Farragut. Zoë spent her language-formative years (first seven in her case) in New Jersey. There's nothing amiss with her diction.

I heard "gut" also. Besides, Uhura was pissed at the assignment, so naturally she disrespected the ship's name.

Right, exactly, when she was complaining about her assignment, she was clearly upset. I can see someone mispronouncing a name like "Farragut" in normal situations, let alone if they were angry.
