So, I know I don't post here nearly as often as I used to, but I have been lurking and following this thread for some time, and wanted to pop in for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to say that I absolutely love the direction you're going with this model. Really beautiful.
Second, I had a possible suggestion regarding the "nacelle struts". I also agree that, though they are clearly consistent with the original model, they do look a bit "fragile" to me, and even a little less substantial than in the images of the original model. However, in looking at the overall design and the low-res model shown in post #25 above, it occurred to me that there might be a way to "beef up" the look of the struts without adding a lot of visual bulk. Again, understanding that the images are very low res, and that you have already reproduced what is probably the actual construction of the struts; but another possible interpretation is that the struts might actually be composed of two elements: there might be a sort of "scaffold-like" structure surrounding a more solid inner core (plasma conduit?) "Scaffold" is probably the wrong word, but I hope it conveys the right image; in my mind I see a structure like the Epsilon 9 station in TMP, in miniature. This might add a visual appearance of further strength without making them look too heavy. It would also be visually and stylistically consistent with the somewhat similar structures you have designed to support the aft engine elements, as well as on the warp nacelles themselves.
While it does look as if the struts on the original model are most likely solid, as you have interpreted them, it also looks to me as if the detail that was added might just have been intended to mimic or suggest a structure such as I am referring to.
Just a few thoughts from a novice non-artist, but "starship pr0n junkie."

Take it for what it may be worth. Regardless, I will look forward to following your continued progress on this model. Qapla'
